KID'S HOPE CHARITY - POOR CHILDREN IN CAMBODIA
We are concerned About our Children, for they are the Future of Our Beloved Cambodia
With the aim of helping the children in Cambodia, Kid's Hope Foundation came about through the vision of Mr. Vibol in 2006, along with a group of Khmer tour leaders and tour guides. As employees of an international tour operator, the group began by bringing food, clothes and school supplies to poor families they met while conducting tours. They also accepted supplies from sympathetic and generous tourists. In addition, they donated part of their wages and their time in order to give the basic needs for these families, and to provide basic English teaching to children of poor villages. In 2006, after years of experience in tourism, they decided to start their own travel agency, and to expand their charity work.
The goal is to provide better living conditions for the children of Cambodia and therefore improve their future, and the future of the country. Children must receive basic needs, and the focus is on bringing them the following necessities:
A clean & safe supply of drinking water.

GREEN ERA TRAVEL, SIEM REAP
More than one third of Cambodians live below the poverty line, and struggle to survive on less than a $1.50 a day. Poverty is especially pervasive in rural areas, and also among children who make up more than half of the country's population (UNICEF). Children's health is substandard in Cambodia, with 60,000 children under the age of 5 still dying every year! The reasons for this high mortality include disease (although many are preventable by vaccination), diarrhea, respiratory infections, malnutrition, unclean water, HIV, and accidents (traffic accidents, drowning, unexploded ordnance). In addition, poverty effects the children’s schooling (tuition costs, child labor, etc), and this in turn increases their vulnerability to exploitation (street children, sexual abuse), and drug and alcohol abuse.
Green Era Travel donates US$10 from the total cost of each tour directly to Kid's Hope. A large portion of this amount is donated to rural schools and to other NGO’s, as well as charity organizations working in Cambodia on the three problems mentioned above. The remainder goes to personal charity projects such as payment of school fees and supplies for selected impoverished children, and providing water pumps in poor villages. In addition, 5$ per traveler (already included in the price of the tours) is donated to all NGOs and Charities visited during our trips.
