It’s true that Cambodian cuisine shares common dishes with its neighboring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam, China, even India, and is influenced by the remnants of French colonial days.  Khmers, however, had found creative ways to put in a dash of their style and flavor, making these otherwise familiar dishes into something uniquely Cambodian.

Get ready to have a taste of Siem Reap’s street food, by hopping into a remork-moto, commonly known as tuk tuk, as we pick you up from your hotel.  We’ll go beyond tourist zones for the most enjoyable local street food adventure.  Your knowledgeable food tour guide will lead you to explore Siem Reap’s streets to sample local snacks, such as yellow bean cake or Khmer rice cake.  We’ll check out the tropical fruits in season and let you have a taste of unique fruits such as dragon fruit, lychee, tiny but sweet pineapples, longan, rambutan and mangosteen (depends on season).  Either you hate it or you love it, we dare you to sample the king of tropical fruits – durian (during season).

We’ll take you where the locals meet, eat and hang-out - in a picnic area where endless stalls are set-up in the early evening.  Walk through the length of the street and explore various stalls selling fruits, snacks and cooked food, clothes, homewares, kitchen wares and everything in between.  Eat snacks the Cambodian way and if you’re up for an adventure, try out a variety of exotic snacks such as fried tarantulas, crunchy crickets, frogs, fried scorpions and duck eggs.  Bring out the foodie in you by picking from a variety of dishes such as skewered barbecue meat and fish, Khmer fried chicken, green mango with chili and salt, savory jackfruit and sweet mangosteen.

One of the Best, Non-Touristy Food Tours Ever

If you are considering going on a tour with Sath, absolutely do it. Not only was Sath flexible in changing the itinerary to match our preferences, but he also told us much about Cambodian history and culture. He was warm and friendly and fun: making this one of the most real, down-to-earth and non-touristy food tours I’ve ever been on.

Great food tour

I did this food tour my first evening in Siem Reap as an introduction to the city and to Cambodia. It’s always true when visiting other food cultures (especially if you don’t speak the language) that it’s scary to explore local street food on your own—you don’t know what things are or how you’re supposed to eat them. Going with a local guide solves that problem so you can be immersed in the authentic way of eating. Green Era and my guide Sath were great. I can’t tell you how full I am????, and I’ve got little bags of lots of things to take back to my hotel! Also, I like that this tour starts at 6:00 (some others start at 4:30), so I could do it after my flight arrived. And it was fun to be driven in a tuk-tuk!

Food Tour Fun

This tour far exceeded expectations. In addition to the food, we learned much more about the Cambodia history and culture than anticipated. Voath was such a friendly, fun guide and we are so glad we started off our Siem Reap experience here.

Great tour!

Voath was a great guide! He gave us great information about the food but also taught us a lot of history as well. We had a great TukTuk driver as well! Highly recommend to get a good feel for Cambodian food.

Real Cambodian Local Foodie experience

Had so much fun at a local market and also restaurants trying a variety of things I’ve never had before! From crickets to exotic fruits to grilled chicken tails, great to soak up the flavours and immerse myself in Cambodia local treats. Finished up in a lovely family restaurant, highly recommend it!

Siem Reap Evening Street foods

This tour was one of my highlights of our visit to Siem Reap and I rate it as a must do for anyone willing to go all in and sample the exotic local delicacies. I loved the fried crickets and the fruit so much I am surprised I could eat the meal at the restaurant. Our local guide Vanlonh did an excellent job ensuring we ate only at health street food vendors and relating the local experience to what we eat. If I had more time at Siem reap I would defiantly look him up and do another tour with Green Era Travel.
