Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Fantastic day trip

We had a wonderful trip with Choub. He was so knowledgeable and spoke fantastic English. The tour was well timed with adequate time spent at each attraction. Visiting kids at the schools was one of the highlights, as was walking through the market. Floating village was amazing. I would definitely recommmend the kayak trip. All up, a great day and thanks to a fantastic guide Choub

Floating Village Experience

We debated giving this 3 or 4 stars, but ultimately settled at 4 because we believed seeing the floating village was a truly unique experience and fascinating view into a very different way of living and would recommend it. Seeing the floating homes was a highlight! Our guide Phy was very well meaning and extremely friendly. My wife and I were the only people on the tour and he was eager to show us his culture and the location. That said, we thought the tour had some opportunities to improve. Though Phy was very kind, he struggled a bit to explain certain things and by the end of the 7 hours we felt the language gap meant we missed a lot of interesting information. Second, each part of the tour felt a bit long - we wish we had a better sense of what the itinerary / timeline would be in advance. If we did it again, we’d ask to move things along a bit more. Third, were stopped on four occasions by locals to buy chips or drinks. They also kept asking us to buy ‘books for their children,’ but we were pretty convinced that the children were not benefitting from this and were told on separate tours and other guides that public education is free in Cambodia and not to buy from these sorts of sellers. At one point, while viewing a cool Pagoda in the floating village, one of these sellers interrupted our guide several times and we weren’t able to enjoy it. At the end, we felt fulfilled by the experience, but we were exhausted by the length of it, the heat, language barrier and aggressive vendors and glad to return to our hotel :)

Very agreeable excursion

Very good organised. We can recommend this company. We had a very friendly guide, Kuysin, who talks very good English and told us a lot of extra interesting things about Cambodian daylife and about the life in the villages around the lake. Beautiful experience to see fisherman life in Kampong Phluk, from our boat. We also did the extra small boat tour through the mangroves, which was a wonderful experience.

A Must to Experience

Our guide Phy was absolutely wonderful. He was super informative and enthusiastic in making sure we totally enjoyed our trip. He also took the initiative to record videos when we were immersed in our experience (particularly during the canoe ride through the mangrove forest) so that we had even more to remember our experience with. It was a truly memorable trip that probably ranks right up there in terms of being one of my best experience of a guided tour. Make sure you ask for Phy. We had the benefit of our own individual guide Phy and the driver for the ‘Tonle Sap Lake and Kampung Phluk Half Day Tour.

Really nice tour to lake and floating village

Really nice tour to Tonle Sap lake and the floating village! Tour guide was very nice and provided good information. Boat ride wasn't too long, had enough time to take nice pics and also got to see the temple and meet some people there. Overall really good experience. Can definitely recommend it!

Enjoyable tour

I really enjoyed the entire tour. Our guide, Nat, was full of information and answered all of our questions. He took us through the market where the locals shop and we learned about the different kinds of produce. We stopped by a temple and had a chat with a friendly monk while Nat translated for us. The boat ride through the village was special, and our group also enjoyed the optional canoe ride.

Unforgettable experience!

I would highly recommend this tour, it’s both educational and beautiful! Nak, our guide took us to his hometown market where we got to see the local daily life. After we visited the floating village, Pagoda, and mangroves and it was all amazing!

Fun day out

Great day out comprised of three parts: minivan ride to the lake, long boat ride to the village, then canoe around the village. Phy was a great guide with a good sense of humour and deep knowledge of the local culture.
