Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Sophy - Excellent Tour Guide

Sophy, our tour guide, met us at the hotel right on time. He has a warm and friendly personality and speaks fluent English. He ensured our safety throughout the tour and shared his extensive knowledge of Cambodia’s history with us. I truly believe he is a great asset in promoting tourism in Cambodia.

Lovely trip to the lake with a great guide

We started the trip with a hotel pick up which always makes it easy, our guide Mr Or Voeun was there when we arrived and we were greeted by a smiling driver with offers of water for the drive to the lake. Upon arrival we transferred into a private boat to sail towards the village. With visiting in the dry season it’s staggering to see the water marks on the stilt houses as we cruised down the river. It’s not a small change in water height it’s a huge one and the size of the stilt houses is very impressive. Our guide pointed out some key building and interesting ones along with key facts as we made our way to the main lake. At the mouth of the main lake we stopped to have a look around a floating restaurant that also offered small boat trips through the sunken forest for an extra $11 which we took up as it seemed a pleasant way to see this area. There are floating drink sellers on the route which we found amusing but had plenty of water so didn’t need anything. We then transferred back to the original boat to continue out into the lake, to say it is vast is an understatement, it could easily be mistaken for a sea, as there was no visible land mass in sight other than where we had come from, the guide pointed to the direction of the closest other village which was 32km away, but we couldn’t see anything but water. After this we visited the village and ended up making a gift of some writing books and pencils with rubbers to the local primary school kids as education in Cambodia is still progressing. Nice tour and make very pleasant with a warm friendly guide and a decent driver in a luxury car.

Exceptional Experience on Tonle Lake

A lovely morning tour of Tonle Lake and the local village as well as a tour of the local market. Press was a great driver and got us there and back safely and comfortably in the luxurious van. Sophy was a great guide who answered all our questions and was very accomodating. They offered cold water several times throughout the tour and cool scented face clothes twice which were a lovely touch.

The best tour guide in Cambodia is NAK.

Nak was an amazing tour guide. He was prompt, very fluent in English, easy to understand and full of so much interesting information. This was by far a five star tour and our entire group enjoyed learning about the culture, the history as well as the personal story of Nak and how he eventually found his way to the tourism industry. If we come back to Cambodia, I would only do a tour with Nak. We had a great day

An afternoon of history and beauty.

Such an immersive and lovely experience. The floating villages and the canoe trip was especially beautiful and peaceful. We felt very honored to see this village and be allowed to pray in their temple. Our guide was very informative.

Beautiful side to Cambodia

We had a fantastic day on this half day tour. Our guide Nak was very passionate and informative and answered any questions we asked. We learnt so much about the lakes/ rivers in Cambodia and a lot about the local life. His passion makes the trip so much better and more meaningful. It was beautiful to see this side of Cambodia and will hold lasting memories for us. Our driver Phearom was very kind and looked after us very well. He gave us fresh ice cold towels and cold waters that made our trip very relaxing. Thankyou again.

Awe Inspiring

An amazing trip, starting from a thriving fishing village, and making one’s way down to the lake. Along the way, you are rewarded with awesome sights of both culture and flora before exiting into the lake itself. We were particularly blessed with a stop down the river at a fishing village, where the guide showed, and provided, us with fantastic detail about the local way of life within. Exiting into the lake itself is a magnificent experience, with the vastness of the lake becoming immediately apparent. An absolute “must do”.
