Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Well worth going in dry or wet season. Very interesting if you want to see how Cambodians living on the waterways really live.

A great exposure to the community that lives on Tonse Sap Lake.

What a learning experience it was to see how the people live on Tonle Sap Lake. The homes are incredible to see. The water level is low in February but our guide walked us through the whole community and shared a lot of information with us about the life of the people. Our great guide was Nak Chung. Ask for him. His English is very good.

Real village life in countryside

It is an mazing trip outside Siem Reap to a village built on stilts. As i visited dry season, the village life was happening on the ground rather than on water but it was no less interesting. I visited school and saw a burial procession. The lake even in the dry season has no end when looking from the boat. The guide was very knowledgeable giving lots of details throughout the tour. I loved it and recommend to all who wants to see a spec of real Cambodia.

Amazing tour!

The tour was very informative and our tour guide Nak was amazing at explaining the history of the villages we came across. Although we went during dry season we were still able to travel by boat into the big lake. I will definitely be coming back in wet season to see the difference!

Brilliant Tour in Siem Reap - Highly Recommended.

This was an absolutely brilliant tour which we would recommend everyone visiting Siem Reap to do. We visited in February and was told by many people not to visit the Villages on Stilts because it was the DRY season and there would be no water - hence the actual village would be dry - How wrong can people be! Other tourists missed this trip and opted to visit a Floating Village instead. Our guide NAK was absolutely superb and gave a guided talk on our way by car to the river. We boarded our boat and made our way up stream passing many riverside stilted settlements which in it self was marvellous. We entered Toni Sap Lake and headed out to a floating restaurant where crocodiles were housed below the water level! We headed back from the Lake to the Stilted Village where indeed there was no water - this actually made the trip even better as we tied the boat up and walked through the village with ouu guide NAK stopping to show us water purification, talk to the villagers, visit their holdings, see the children in school and the Buddhist temples etc - an unforgettable experience.
