Itinerary

Meet a driver at your hotel in Siem Reap for the scenic, 2-hour trip to Phnom Kulen Mountain, passing a landscape of tropical forest and rural communities in your air-conditioned vehicle.

The first stop of the day is a hilltop temple, where you’ll find a massive reclining Buddha carved directly into a sandstone boulder. Next, head to the River of a Thousand Lingas, exploring a riverbank adorned with ancient carvings of phalluses and Hindu gods.

Cool off at another sacred site, Phnom Kulen Waterfalls, which tumble into a wide basin that’s ideal for a midday swim or wade. Throughout the day, the guide will help bring the ancient sites to life by explaining their significance and symbolism, and you’ll have time to purchase lunch at a local restaurant before the return trip to Siem Reap.

Phnom Kulen

Our trip to Phnom Kulen today was fabulous. The trip to the "mountain" by air conditioned car was very comfortable as we drove past small villages and daily life. Arriving at Phnom Kulen it became apparent that many Khmer people's we're also going to be enjoying a day visiting the area. For me this made the day more exciting as we were able to experience joyous people enjoying a rare day off. Our guide Jose was very knowledgeable about the area and fun to be with. He attended to our every need which helped make our day extremely enjoyable. We would highly recommend Jose and this excursion.

Nice getaway from the city!

Marin was extremely personable and provided a lot of insight and information into Cambodia as a country and the sites we saw. My absolute favorite part of this trip was the unbelievable view at the overlook on our way up Phnom Kulen. The 1,000 Lingas was fascinating and Marin pointed out interesting details that I would’ve otherwise missed. The waterfalls were super overcrowded, so I didn’t enjoy those as much as expected, but the trip was still nice. We also had the opportunity to see some of the temples in the surrounding area which I really enjoyed!

A brilliant tour

From meeting our guide Marin at our hotel I knew this tour would be special. He is very informative and relates personal stories about himself and his family’s history. We visited the beautiful national park and Marin’s in-depth knowledge of the wildlife and religious significance of the river and surrounding area was captivating. Lunch was superb and we stopped at a palm wine producer on the way back. A good humoured informative tour with a great guide and driver topped off with meeting some lovely fellow travellers. Highly recommended. Thank you Marin.
