Very Informative and authentic tour of Angkor and Tonle Sap

Our tourguide Mr. San did an excellent job guiding us through Angkor and the floating village Kampong Phluk on the Tonle Sap in the „2 days Best of Angkor“ Tour. His considerate, profound and professional explanations allowed us go dive into the cultural, religious and political aspects of the Cambodian/Khmer history and better understand the background and genesis of the temples nd buildings.

Great Deal for A day Tour

This was recommended to me by a friend and so I gave it a try. Jeff from Green Era was really responsive of my emails before my trip and have been very accomodating until the tour day. You will visit about 4 temples and on a day that is fair enough. I joined a small group tour and paid $18. Our tour guide was good in English and was very informative. However, he seems to be rushing us when he kept insisiting for us to just head back home since the sunset at Angkor Wat was not going to happen because of the ensuing rain. Altho he was right after all, I wished he did not have to asked about 10x whether we want to wait or not when we already said we’ll wait. Apart from that everything else was great.

A quiet, interesting visit, with a unique guide! ** Découverte intéressante et rafraîchissante, avec un guide unique!

I was afraid that could be a tourist trap, but the trip was well worth it. The guide (Van Lonh) and the British couple I was with were so funny and easy-going, I really felt as if with friends. Van Lonh is one of his kind: if you can, definitely book with him! He's definitely the best guide I had in Cambodia. He's kind, helpful, interesting, and hillarious... you just can't get bored. He's not just bringing you from place to place: he's part of the experience! The trip was refreshing, the visit more than interesting, and really worth it: this was a "half day" visit, but it lasted as long as the other "full day" tours I booked. Just get ready to pay an extra 5$ if you want a drive in the mangrove (not that fascinating, in my opinion...)

In a nutshell

As my stay in Cambodia was short, I chose to visit the Angkor temples in just one day, and I don't regret it! The guide Seila led us to the unmissable landmarks and I saw all I wanted to see in a quiet, short day. He was kind, had his wise ways to avoid the crowds, and explained things I wouldn't have had time to learn alone while on the spot. My only regret was to finish the visit with a restaurant skipping this would have left me more time to do other things. For a full day tor, ending at 1pm (lunch included) seems quite short indeed...

Full day Angkor Wat temples and half day Tonie Sap floating village tours

Thanks to Marin (our amazing Cambodian guide) and Chea (our driver) for our personalised ( not group) guided tours, nothing was too much trouble for them. Angkor Wat was as awe inspiring as we had imagined and the information provided by Marin enabled us to understand the history in Cambodia over 800 years ago. Travelling with Marin was fun and informative he was happy to recount the history of his country. He certainly knew the best places to take photos around the temples.

Outstanding tour guide

Siya Pouv was our tour guide on this trip to see the homes on stilts around Tonle Sap Lake. His English was perfect and he shared a ton of great information. I even got to ask questions I had from the rest of my stay. The tour itself was quite good. The only think I thought was a bit hokey was seeing the python in a little plastic container.

A tour worthwhile.

We had an afternoon time to do something in Siem Reap. Decided to take the afternoon tour for Kampong Phluk. Pickup at the hotel, nice on time, and off we went to Tonle Sap Lake. Our guide, Mr. Van Lonh from Green Era Travel, gave us valuable information about the coming tour and answered general questions about the country and the people. He is highly recommended. A guy who has great pleasure in his job and does his utmost to serve the clients. The tour was very pleasant. Beautifull village on poles. Now not very high above water due to the high water level of the lake. Boats sailing and crossing all over the place. Pleasure to watch. Also Mr. Van Lohn Show us the local food we could taste. Recommended tour is you have a morning or afternoon to spare.

Interesting insight into floating village life

We learnt a lot on this tour about the life on water. It was a little shocking to see how families live in the floating villages. Our guide Wat was very knowledgeable however it is hard to hear over the boat engines. Whilst we enjoyed this day as we learnt a lot it was very touristy. We did the canoe ride in the mangroves and yes you are encouraged to tip the lady, we were happy to do so but gave her the tip directly. They are clearly very poor and trying to make a living. It was a good way to get a closer look into the life on water plus we saw monkeys!
