THIS IS A MUST-DO. REAL LIFE WATER WORLD MINUS KEVIN COSTNER

My friends and I were visiting Vietnam and Cambodia. We had many items on our itinerary: Angkor Wat, Halong Bay etc. Tonle Sap was by far the most moving experience of all the sites. You start off with a smaller house boat type boat till you get to the lake. You get to a giant float which is more like a social club and switch to a smaller motor boat. You motor through the floating village. I recommend taking your time. Ask your guide to stop at the house boats to have a beer and a game of billiards. Nothing like enjoying a brew in Water World! You’ll experience many things while traveling but see and experience very few things like this. A lovely community living and thriving on the water. We were privileged enough to visit their school, which is two house boats tied together. You’ll meet the children and see what their day-to-day is like. A donation will be asked for and we gladly gave it. I hope it went to the children. Tonle Sap was recently visited by The Grand Tour show on Amazon and apparently the water levels are very low now. Do your research and see if the entire tour is still available.

Great tour with Marin the guide, who was very attentive and spoiled us. The reserve itself is beautiful and worth the trip.

Angkor Wat with tour guide Sorphea 5 stars*****

Unfortunally something went wrong when booking the tour at Green Era travel - luckly the hotel got in touch with the manager and they send the guide Sorphea to us :0) We had the best day with a dedicated tour guide who told and showed us many exciting things about all the temples, the history, the nature and the Cambodian culture. He spoke good english and was good the involed the kids too with questions and magic in the nature :0) @Sorphea, thanks for a great day and for all your kindness - hope to meet you again some day

What an experience!

My boyfriend and I loved this tour for so many reasons. Our tour guide was just amazing and we had so much admiration for his attitude, background and his love for his Country. He talked us through so much more than what the tour provided on paper and really opened up about his experiences and the life of the Khmer people. His english was also excellent and again, very admirable. The tour offers a wonderful view of the village people and their every day lives. It is very humbling and warming to see. We stopped off at a small market to view the local art before providing us with a very comfortable car ride back to our pick-up point. This is a must do tour and will not disappoint. A special thank you to our tour guide San who made our experience even more memorable.

Great half day trip

We were picked up on time about 7.30 am and taken with 6 others to the lake in air con van. On the way our guide, SAN, gave us a very informative talk about the history of Cambodia- he had personal experience of the Khmer Rouge atrocities and had also worked on the princess Diana project for clearing land mines and was clearly very passionate about his country. We arrived at the floating village and SAN guided us through, explaining how the money from tourism was helping to build a medical centre and road for the inhabitants. We got on the boat and went down the river to the lake which was truly amazing. We stopped at a pontoon where we could take a small boat with a local lady ($5) who rowed us through the flooded forest then back to another pontoon where you could see the crocodile farm. Then back on our boat and back to the van. A superb way to spend the morning and SAN was so professional, highly recommended. Ali and Fiona

Amazing

This trip was one of my favourite days in Cambodia. I went during dry season and it was amazing to walk through the village and see the stilted houses. Don't worry, you still get a boat ride and you go out to a floating cafe on the lake, so you will still get the entire floating village experience. I would highly recommend this tour! As a solo traveller, San went out of his way to make me feel involved and ensure I was having a good day. Thanks for going the extra mile!!

Half day Kompong Phluk, Tonle Sap Lake from Siem Reap

My husband and I were picked up from our hotel at 2.00 pm and the mini bus continued to pick up other passengers. In total there were 11 of us wanting to see the floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake. Our tour guide, SAN, was extremely knowledgeable and very professional in his approach. San was also very helpful to my husband (who has nerve damage to his feet) and assisted him on and off the boat. We disembarked at the village centre and walked past all the stilt houses. I had taken some books and pencils and SAN introduced me to the founder of the village school. The school requires volunteers to teach the children English if anyone is interested. We then continued our boat cruise out onto the lake and watched the beautiful sunset. The road trip to and from the lake was all part of the experience as which we thoroughly enjoyed. A big thank you to SAN who made the trip such a wonderful experience.
