Itinerary

After pickup from your Siem Reap hotel, travel to the Angkor Archaeological Park in the comfort of an air-conditioned minivan. Once you’ve purchased your entrance tickets (not included), set out on a guided tour of the ancient temples.

Start by marveling at the much-photographed temple of Angkor Wat and hear the fascinating history of the Khmer Empire as you follow your guide around the impressively preserved ruins. Continue to the walled temple complex of Angkor Thom, pass through the grand South Gate, and visit architectural highlights including Bayon Temple, the Elephant Terrace, and the Terrace of Leper King. After breaking for lunch (own expense), admire the overgrown ruins of Ta Phrom and discover why it’s nicknamed the “Jungle Temple.”

All around great tour

San was terrific. Educated, well versed, organized. The list goes on. Appreciated both the known and the dark in depth history from the viewpoint of someone with a background so entwined with the history and changes of Cambodia itself. Would do again. 6/5 stars

You must go on this tour!

We had the best tour guide Van Lohn - he was knowledgeable, interesting, humorous, patient, and fun. He knew how to take panorama shots with our cameras and showed us little details other guides seemed to miss, he took the time to share aspects of ancient and modern life that we would not have known about otherwise, and he organized the whole excursion thoughtfully. He took great care to explain details about the construction and layout of the temple complex. He was also very helpful to those in our group who wanted help planning other activities. We visited 4 places: Ankgor Wat, Ankgor Thom, Bayon, and Pra Thom. Fantastic! Lohn knew all kinds of interesting details and backstory for each place, from ancient and modern times. Highly recommend! There's a lot of walking and I had hurt my foot only days before so was on crutches - but I still managed just fine! On the way back we stopped at a place for dinner. It was an excellent full day!

Excellent tour

Small-Group Angkor Wat Tour from Siem Reap Youhan was the most engaged and interesting tour guide. Growing up around the temples he clearly lives and breathes the history of the place, highly recommend!

A great way to see Angkor Wat and surrounding temples!

This was an excellent tour hosted by our guide San. The pickup was on time from our guest house in the morning. We were a small group (5 people) since there were some “no shows”. San gave us an excellent review of recent Khmer history as well as the background for Angkor Wat as a shrine to Vishnu rededicated to Buddha as well as surrounding temples, going back to Jayavarman, and later Suryavarman II. At the temple itself we got to see not just the bas reliefs and carving style but also where bullets from AK-47 and other guns had struck the monument. Art thieves have also wreaked havoc and lopped off many statue heads. The sandstone was actually floated downstream to this site from Mt Kulen many kilometers away and then dragged here and San explained how the blocks had been roped and levered into place. We also got to see the Ta Prohm “Indiana Jones” temple where trees have interknitted with the buildings and the Bayon temple with its iconic faces. Lunch was at a nice roadside restaurant, and we were back home before 5pm. Overall a great way to see Angkor Wat.

Not to be missed

Picked up from our hotel in a small group. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It is in 3 parts visiting different temples. They are a must see and a scene of natural beauty. It is physically challenging due to lots of stairs to climb and the heat but definitely worth the visit. I must also thank our guide, i think his name was Sam, as i was ill and was struggling with the steps. He was there all the time helping me and then very kindly sorted me a tuk tuk to go back to our hotel. The rest of our group stayed and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the day
