Itinerary

The guide will pick up you at 8 am from your hotel and we will start this day with exploring the temples of UNESCO listed Angkor National Park, the World Heritage site and it's the World Largest Religious Monument. Pay the entrance fee on your own account at the ticket office where we will stop for you to buy one and make your way with the guide to the first stop at Angkor Wat to visit the largest and most impressive of all Angkor temples, considered among one of the 7th Wonders of the World.

Angkor Wat was built between 1113-1150 AD and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It's the best preserved of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking, the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world is 200 meters wide. Angkor Wat is an architectural allegory of the mythical Mount Meru in the center of the world (Himalaya). This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls.

We also explore the Angkor Thom complex. Its vast walls, some 6m wide, 8m high and 13km in length contain many monuments. Inside the walls the king, his relatives and officials, military officers and priests took residence, the rest of the people lived outside of the great enclosure, between the two artificial lakes. Our visit will begin with the South Gate, a beautiful introduction to Angkor Thom with well-restored statues of Asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge. Inside the complex, we will first visit the Bayon with 200 endless smiling faces. This temple mountain situated in the center of Angkor Thom City where sets the Bayon apart from many other Angkor monuments and we will continue to the Elephant Terrace, which owes its name to its outstanding depiction of these animals and the Terrace of Leper King, which presents a magnificent sculpture, popularly known as the leper king and then we continue the tour to Ta Phrom was a monastery built by the king Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother as well as a school.

Ta Phrom has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archaeologists to demonstrate the awesome power of nature. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you will climb through the dilapidated stone structures you will see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. At every turn you will expect to see Indiana Jones (Lara Croft) step out from behind a fallen pillar around you.

This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel or any requested drop off point within the city center.

Enjoyable, fun tour

Mr. Nak, was outstanding, his ability to put everything in perspective was wonderful. His knowledge of the Temples was great and delivered in a fact filled but often humorous way.

Exception tour of Angkor Watt

Amazing tour of the Angkor Watt temples; certainly a must see. Our tour guide, Nak, kept it exciting with his vast knowledge of the history. Having a small group, made it more personalized tour. I highly recommend

A tour not to be missed, especially with Nak & Mr. Bond!!

We booked the small group tour starting at 7:30am, however it ended up being just myself and my partner as the other couple did not show. I would recommend booking the private tour as you get more time to ask questions. We saw other groups moving in sizes of up to 24 people. We were assigned Mr. Bond, (as we were told to address him) our driver and Nak as our guide. Both of their services can only be described as a 5 star experience. Mr Bond was stoic, kind & efficient. He was always on time to pick us up and take us onto the next temple. Assured we always had cold water to drink and the a/c was blasting - which is a must if the temperatures are anything like what they were when we did the tour (upwards of 36 Celsius!). I’m convinced there is no better tour guide than Nak! His knowledge seemed to rival that of any other tour guide we crossed paths with. Not only did he inform us of the history of the temples but also the history leading up to and after the build of the various temples, using visual aids from his phone to help us understand better. There was never a question he couldn’t answer and his English was phenomenal. I’m a native English speaker and he even used a few words that were not even in my vocabulary! He cracked jokes along the way and stayed positive and energetic even though we were all melting in the heat - which was tough for all of us! So much of the history of this magnificent country is so very sad and distressing especially for the locals to discuss, however in my experience they are the strongest, most honest and kind of all SE Asian communities. Nak had so much knowledge of other attractions not only in Siem Reap but across the country. We will for sure stay in contact with him for when we inevitably come back to Cambodia! I cannot recommend this tour enough if you get Nak and Mr. Bond! We had a great time and definitely not to be missed if you are visiting Siem Reap. A few things to note (or to take with you) about the tour: - In order to go to sacred levels of Ankor you must cover the tops of your arms and your knees (as a sign of respect) the view is not to be missed! - For the rest of the site, shorts seem to be accepted - Sunscreen & a hat if you’re there during the day or into the evening is also a must - much of the ground has no shade - Water (if not provided by your guide) or rehydration salts especially if you’re visiting during dry season - Snacks as the first break isn’t until lunch (or have breakfast before you leave) - Watch out for the monkeys! They are wild animals, not pets and should be respected in this way. Do not feed them, get too close, expose your teeth or talk to them. They can be aggressive, although the site ensures it is safe for tourists when abiding by the above advice

Amazing tour by Nak

This was one of the best days of our trip so far. Of course Angkor Wat is sensational by itself, but what took the experience to a deeper level was our Green Era tour-guide named Nak. He made the temple grounds come alive with his insane depth of knowledge, charisma and professionalism. He is a true teacher. If you book this tour, ask for Nak! The driver who accompanied the tour guide (went by the name ‘Mr. James Bond’) was also fantastic. Always waiting with cold bottles of water when we got back to the car after each temple visit. Super friendly service. Very safe driver.
