Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Very interesting morning

We booked this tour for the middle of our visit to Siem Reap, in order to avoid temple fatigue. It was perfect - something completely different. Our guide, Mr Lonh, was happy to talk about current Cambodia (interesting in context with all the history we'd been learning at the temples) and was very friendly with other folks along the way, making our group feel at home at the market and in the village. We didn't do the canoe tour for an additional cost - we are not strong swimmers and that looked way too close to the water - but we enjoyed going straight out to the endpoint on the tour boat and getting a nice coconut juice while looking at the lake and the people. This is a unique village, and we felt fortunate to get a glimpse of this way of life. Note that people with mobility issues may want to call and ask about accommodations, there is a bit of climbing in and out of boats. We had no difficulty, I only mention it because I didn't see it mentioned in other reviews.

Great tour with green era!

Did the half-day kompong phluk, tonle sap lake tour with green era from Siem Reap. Pick up was punctual at 2pm. Great tour guide- Phrom, who was informative and made sure we very comfortable with water etc during our trip. Really enjoyed seeing the houses on stilts and learning how the local people make a living. Tour finished around 5pm and the driver dropped as at the killing fields museum which was kind. Great photos. I recommend this tour!

A great afternoon

Did the half day tour to Kompong Phluk and Tonle Sap with the excellent Van Lonh. It was a great afternoon, not only did we visit Kompong Phluk on the water but we got out and saw the local Buddhist Temple and some ladies dancing away spirits. We continued to Tonle Sap, enjoyed a beer on the water and then travelled back.

These guys are excellent.

Just did a half day with a Green Era in Siem Reap involving Kompong Phluk water village and Tonle Sap lake near Siem Reap for $29. Our guide Lohn was fantastic - informative without being intrusive and really helped us get the best of the day including tips on how to negotiate with vendors! Vibol was also excellent. No fuss, just made everything very easy. Would absolutely use this company again and would recommend to anyone. The drivers and boat pilot were faultless as well. Simon, Cambridge Nov 2018

A wonderful afternoon on the water

We went to see the lake with our guide Phearom. It was a wonderful experience! He was a great guide and taught us much about the area, Siem Reap and Cambodia. The boat tour to the lake was beautiful, great on hot days because of the breeze. Would recommend this to anyone!

Beautiful Authentic Floating Village

I loved visiting this place as my first stop in Cambodia. I came to see Angkor Wat, but discovered this little gem. A photographer’s dream! Not my best photos, but a little snippet. So many beautiful photos of village life here in Cambodia. A very humbling experience sas well, as life is simple here. Sit back, relax, and take everything in. It is a business, so you will make some stops, but everything goes to supporting these villagers. I’m really happy I made this trip. Worth it! A nice way to fill in some time, while in Cambodia, and see some real life. Our guide was very wonderful and informative! Thank you Phearom! He gave us many other tidbits of places to go, and see while here in Cambodia. ????
