Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Amazing visit!

We had a great day with our guide Voath. He was super friendly, kind and very knowledgeable. The tour is a perfect length of time. You start with a short visit to a local market and then head by car to the floating village. You then travel by boat. It is so surreal to see the houses on stilts. Beautiful. We paid extra to do a canoe tour in the mangroves ($5 per person). It was worth it. Everything in the tour is very well organized. This tour is suitable for all ages. We strongly recommend it, a must see and do.

Half Day Tour of Tonle Sap lake

On our tour of the Tonle Sap we took an enjoyable boat ride down the canal/river, this gave us a really good chance to look outside and see how the locals live around here. Our tour guide Nak lived in a village very nearby so he was able to provide some interesting first hand knowledge of the local life in this area. I thoroughly enjoyed Nak’s tour as i thought he provided sufficient information but also made it very entertaining due to his fun personality. We were able to visit a floating restaurant on the lake which was home to a few crocodiles! On the way back we were able to get out and go walk around one of the villages and got to meet some of the local children and families which was such a great and rare opportunity!!! Throughout the journey were we’re provided which water and a good amount of breaks.I would 100% recommend this tour and also Nak as your tour guide, he was great!! P.S if you do this tour bring any small bottles of shampoo etc, toothbrushes, combs, coffee packets, tea bags etc. you find in hotels or purchased as the children there really appreciate these items and you can make a big difference

Tonle Sap lake and Kampong Phluk floating village , half day tour from Siem Reap.

My family and I ( two teenagers 17 & 16) did the half day tour of Tonle Sap lake and Kampong Phluk village yesterday. We had an amazing experience and our tour guide Nak, took care of everything and looked after us the whole time. He arrived at our hotel on time with his driver and provided water en route and allowed comfort breaks along the way.Nak’s home village is very near to Tonle Sap and he was able to share with us lots of information and details about the lake , the local area and the lives of the local people on the lake and in the village . I had no idea the floating restaurant we visited keeps crocodiles there .. my kids couldn’t believe it ! .. but Nak went out of his way to make sure we had the full experience , allowing us to leave the boat and walk through the floating village and meet the local children. My two teenagers said it was their best tour in Siem Reap, made better by Nak’s sense of humour and fun.Nak is a fantastic tour guide and I can 100% recommend him for this tour, you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing tour

Tonle sap floating village

It was nice to meet with local villagers, especially the children. The teachers encourage you to buy a set of books and pencils that you give to the children. Great opportunity to pay forward, but make sure to have cash. The set of books and pencils run about $20, U.S. Phy was a great guide; would definitely do again.
