Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Totally different way of life...

We stopped enroute at our guides home village which seemed more of a market with a few homes as the market was huge! A proper assault on the senses - sights, sounds & smells - stuffed frogs anyone?! What I liked was there was no pushing you to buy stuff, although having our tour guide being well known by almost everyone I think helped a lot! This is a tour definitely well worth doing - although not flooded due to it being dry season the walk through gave a completely different perspective to life in this village and I'm glad we did it in low season as it wasn't crowded and the villagers were just getting on with their daily lives. It was hot & dusty and I can understand why the houses are built on stilts to make the most of the breeze when there is no water. The villagers were very friendly & happy for photos to be taken (just ask first!) I do want to return to see it when it is flooded though...

Tonle Sap with Sorphea

Sorphea is a great guide to Tonle Sap and the stilted village of Kampong Phluk. He was full of information about the history of the region, contemporary circumstances, and even environmental knowledge. We learned a lot from his warm, engaging stories, and we appreciated his gentle, no pressure approach. Thanks, Sorphea, for a lovely afternoon on the lake!

Fantastic trip

The trip to Kompong Phluk and Tonle Sap Lake was amazing. Our guide Nak was so helpful and friendly and made our trip a memory that we will not forget. He answered all our questions and his knowledge and English was excellent. We would recommend this tour and to have Nak as your guide would make it a fantastic trip.

Smooth tour

Good tour was fascinating too see all the houses and the line of we’re the water rises too in the wet season. Didn’t find it a little strange however that our guide stopped and took more photos in the village they we did.

Lake tour

We had a great day with our guide, Voath. Very professional and courteous. Clean car and lots of ice cold water. He took us to the market, a village and the boat experience. All very insightful and fun!

Learn about Cambodia

Yesterday we learned about Siem Reap's history and today we got to learn about current day Cambodia from Mr. Voath. He was a knowledgeable tour guide who offered a lot of information and answered our questions. He speaks perfect English. We were picked up at our hotel in a very nice van and driven to a local market that we got to explore on foot and then we were driven to the floating city where we toured the village and then went on a boat ride on the lake. Although it was the dry season and we walked around the village, it was so worth the visit. Mr. Voath was great!

Wonderful day tour with Elephant s santuary incl.

We had an increible day together with my mum. We were on our 40 days trip around the World and we could not miss Angor and all amezing sites around Siem Reap. Tour was brillient and our tour guide Voath very cearing, friendly and took care of us very well. At the start of the tour he adviced us to change sandals for sport shoes, took pic of us everywhere, even stop at the local market and bought some local fruit for us. Would def repeat again.
