Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Interesting and educational —great guide.

Really interesting and fun tour of Kampong Phluck stilt houses. This tour had a lot of variety bus, boat, walking, canoeing. Pon, our guide, was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable, having grown up in the area. He answered all of our questions and added stories to enhance the trip. He explained about government conservation programs that are designed to protect wildlife and the natural environment while benefiting the local people. Pon was always friendly and went out of his way to accommodate the needs of all the tourists. Highly recommend this tour.

A need to see experience

Really enjoyed this tour. Great views. The walk in stilt village felt very invasive to me, but the beautiful people who lived there really seemed either ok or used to it. There was no picking up, not dropping off, anyone at a hotel or accommodation. Told to meet at their location. All dropped off by old market/pub street. Worked out fine. Told there would be no time for meal on tour….which would have been nice in floating restaurant. Hope to do again in flood season. And to go on separate mangrove tour.

Great guide, lovely morning tour

Our guide and driver treated us to a lovely tour. They were exceptionally courteous helping us on and off the boat and minding our safety. What we really enjoyed was that the guide imparted lots of information about his country and we felt we learn a lot. Thank you for a great trip!

Sophy was amazing!

I did this tour on my last day in Cambodia, and it was a great way to wrap up my time there. Sophy was the guide and Mr. Peab was the driver. They were both excellent - responsible, considerate, on time, etc. Sophy was an excellent guide - he took us through a big market - not one with many tourists so we could get a real sense of the food people grow and gather and the social scene of the market. After a boat ride out onto Tonle Sap (which is sooooooo big!), we went to Kampong Phluk, where Sophy walked us through the community and explained some of the details of life, including temple life, how tourism is viewed and handled there, day to day existence. I asked a lot of questions about real life for people in Cambodia and he shared an honest context of the country's history and culture. Highly recommended!
