Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Great cultural experience with fantastic service!

Our guide Mr. Nak was a pleasure, he was living as a monk previously and really knows a lot about Cambodian history, politics and current events. It was wonderful to engage in a conversation with him and learn about a local’s opinion. The tour was a short way of seeing unique aspects of Cambodia’s countryside villages especially the famous floating village. A relaxing canoe trip on the Mangrove forest was additional $10 and not to be missed. Mr. Boreay our driver was also very professional and ready to greet us with cold water at every stop.

Visit of Kompong Phluk

We went today on the afternoon tour (14pm) to visit the village with a boat and it was very beautiful and enjoyable. Our tour guide Choub was really kind and told us a lot about his culture and the way of living of the the village people and how they make a living by fishing from generation to generation. For only $5/person we then went on a little boat without motor to visit the mangroves. I would recommend it so you can see another type of nature and enjoy the calmness of it. After that we went on land to visit a village, beautiful with a lot of colors. The local temple is also full of colors and shines from afar. In all we had a lovely time and we recommend to do this tour via their tour guide company to avoid the many scams.

Really beautiful trip to Kompong Phluk and the lake

We had a really amazing trip with Nak as our guide to visit the floating village of Kompong Phluk and to Tonle Sap Lake. There are 3 floating villages in the Siem Reap area but we were told that this is the best one of them all to visit and we weren’t disappointed. The half day tour picked us up promptly at our hotel and my wife and I with 3 other visitors were driven first to an authentic local food market to view daily village life. On the way, we were told all about everyday life in Cambodia sharing interesting facts about the history of this region and some of the issues people face today. From there were continued on to get our park pass and then boarded a boat that took us to the floating village. Amazing to see how tall the houses were, and Nak our very friendly and helpful local guide told us all about how the fisherfolk life. I can also recommend the 20min canoe ride through the mangrove forest, as it was something quite unique and very peaceful. We then continued in our boat out into the lake which could have been an ocean as you could not see the other side of the lakeshore. On the way back, we stopped off for a walk through the village whilst giving the local children some school note books we had bought during our canoe ride. All in all, this is an excellent tour. If you wonder whether you should add this to your trip alongside the sights of Angkor Wat, you should do so. Some really unique sights with a super friendly and knowledgable guide, and an opportunity to meet the beautiful and kind people of Cambodia. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Siem Reap

I booked this trip for a group of five friends. We were picked up on time. From our hotel in Siem Reap and looked after every step of the way by our guide Choub. He was engaging and informative and the whole trip was a feast of experiences and sights. Cold water is provided and there are opportunities to buy a coffee or snack. I'd recommend the additional $5 optional small boat through the mangrove just to complete the experience. A great afternoon with a fantastic guide and sights you just won't see anywhere else.

Laid back and pleasant tour with a sorphea as our tour guide. We took a tour in a small boat in the forest which was a good add on.

Memorable tour

We are so happy that we booked this tour! Our small group were given such an intimate look at this unique local fishing village. Our guide Choub and driver Channa were just lovely, very knowledgable with infectious enthusiasm- they had us laughing during the drive and we felt very comfortable. We had an incredible experience and I highly recommended Green Era Travel for touring this interesting area!
