Itinerary

The guide will pick up you at 8 am from your hotel and we will start this day with exploring the temples of UNESCO listed Angkor National Park, the World Heritage site and it's the World Largest Religious Monument. Pay the entrance fee on your own account at the ticket office where we will stop for you to buy one and make your way with the guide to the first stop at Angkor Wat to visit the largest and most impressive of all Angkor temples, considered among one of the 7th Wonders of the World.

Angkor Wat was built between 1113-1150 AD and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It's the best preserved of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking, the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world is 200 meters wide. Angkor Wat is an architectural allegory of the mythical Mount Meru in the center of the world (Himalaya). This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls.

We also explore the Angkor Thom complex. Its vast walls, some 6m wide, 8m high and 13km in length contain many monuments. Inside the walls the king, his relatives and officials, military officers and priests took residence, the rest of the people lived outside of the great enclosure, between the two artificial lakes. Our visit will begin with the South Gate, a beautiful introduction to Angkor Thom with well-restored statues of Asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge. Inside the complex, we will first visit the Bayon with 200 endless smiling faces. This temple mountain situated in the center of Angkor Thom City where sets the Bayon apart from many other Angkor monuments and we will continue to the Elephant Terrace, which owes its name to its outstanding depiction of these animals and the Terrace of Leper King, which presents a magnificent sculpture, popularly known as the leper king and then we continue the tour to Ta Phrom was a monastery built by the king Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother as well as a school.

Ta Phrom has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archaeologists to demonstrate the awesome power of nature. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you will climb through the dilapidated stone structures you will see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. At every turn you will expect to see Indiana Jones (Lara Croft) step out from behind a fallen pillar around you.

This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel or any requested drop off point within the city center.

What a fabulous tour!! The tour guide Mr. Nak was amazing!! His English was excellent and he was so well informed, so polite and friendly! He taught us so much about Cambodia we were very impressed . The driver Mr. Vuthay even with his limited English was so kind opening out doors , offering us cold water and cold towels that had a refreshing lemon smell . Generally this was an awesome tour of the most beautiful temples I have seen!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!

Great day at Angkor Wat and other sites

We had a great tour today with Sath Ty. He was very knowledgeable and caring. I would recommend this tour of the small circuit. The van was comfortable and driver did a great job. It got hot on the tour but the air conditioning in the van and ice cold bottles of water were very much appreciated.

Delightful Day at AW With Friends and Guide Sath

Our day trip to the Angor Wat temples, guided by Sath and driven by Chana was perfection. We felt safe and cared for the whole day, from our 8 am pick up at our Lodge to our drop off just before 3 pm. Sath knew all the interesting facts and was always down for picture taking. He went the extra mile for me (Cecelia) in particular. I had a nasty cold and Sath made sure to take lots of breaks and took me to a local pharmacy for some much needed cold medicine.

Dream visit to Angkor Wat

A real Wonder of the World. I had no idea how vast Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm are, and spent hours there soaking up information about their construction and the history of the Khmer kings who built them. The Terrace of the Elephants was impressive primarily for its size and the vast area before it, where the Khmer would gather by the thousands to see their king. The real showstopper is Bayon with its bas reliefs of domestic life as well as the war between the Khmer and the neighboring Jumpar people. A long and exhausting day, but well worth it. Our guide Sath was patient and very knowledgeable, and allowed frequent rest breaks on a very hot and humid day. And our driver Vuthy made sure to always have cold water and iced towels ready after every stop. A wonderful experience.

Fantastic Tour

We really enjoyed our tour with Mr. Nak.He was friendly and knowledgeable, giving us plenty of information during our tour, as well as the best spots for perfect photo opportunities. We had booked to go up in the balloon above the temple, but it was too windy. Mr.Nak arranged for us to try again the next day, before we had to leave to carry on our travels, however it was too windy again, so he arranged for a refund for us without a problem. We would fully recommend this tour.

Great guide and driver made the tour easy, comfortable and interesting

The tour was a great experience. From pick up, throughout the day and until drop off back at our hotel, our guide Sorphea and our driver Toam took great care of us. Sorphea was incredibly knowledgeable about the temple sites and history. He made sure we hit all the parts we would want to see but also didn’t ever make it feel like our time was being wasted or that things were dragging. He knew where to take the best photos, shortcuts around the crowd and he was very personable. Toam was friendly and accommodating. The car was clean and spacious and he always had a much needed cold bottle of water waiting for us after each stop. I highly recommend the tour and if possible would suggest requesting Sorphea and Toam!

Wonderful experience

We had a fantastic, interesting and well- executed tour to Angkor Wat and surrounding sites. Sorphea, our guide, was very informative and amusing as he dove into the history behind the buildings alongside the wars and religions that influenced what we see today. He was excellent at pausing to tell a story so that crowds would pass and we could have more space and time among the sites. Roam, the driver, was also great. He was at the ready when the tour of each stop was over, always ready with a bottle of water and a smile. Would definitely recommend!
