Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Visit to Kompong Pluk ... sights & insights

The trip to Kompong Phluk on the bank on Tonle Sap (Lake) in Siem Reap was not only interesting to see how the villagers cope with seasonal flooding of their village during the monsoon months( April to September) when the lake overflows with water brought down from the Himalayas by the Mekong River ... that's why all the houses are built on stilts. We visited the Kompong on December 27 (dry season) and the place was dry and dusty; and the little children have to climb up high ladders with their school bags.We had a very friendly guide who explained in clear English what to expect during the 45-minute drive to the lake and also explained how Tonle Sap is the world's largest fresh water lake that rules the lives and livelihood of people miles around. Our guide Choub was also very obliging when we asked to be taken to see a local market not visited by tourists. We got to experience the sights, sound and smells of the bustling market where we saw people selling freshly caught catfish, dragoon fish, etc as well as smoked and fermented fish paste. The walk through the village enabled us to visit a small 'school' taught by a volunteer teacher and the children were eager to learn where we came from and what we eat, etc. Great to be able to interact with the children direct and get a glimpse of their daily activities and what they want to be when they are adults. Overall, it's not the sights but the insights we gained that make the trip memorable. Thanks to Choub and his driver Channe of Green Eco Tours. Andrew & Felice Yeo Singapore

An amazing tour with an excellent tour guide

Our guide Choub was excellent - he spoke very good English and was incredibly informative and knowledgeable as well as being very entertaining. Our driver Channa was also a very good driver. This was an amazing experience and one which my family will never forget. It was great to see the unique way in which the villagers live and their unique way of life. The boat ride through the mangroves was also an incredible experience. Highly recommend this!

Enjoyable tour

This tour was really enjoyable. It gave us a good insight into life in Cambodia. The trip started with a pick up from our hotel and transport to a local market. We walked around here for a while, observing the hustle and bustle. We were then brought to the boat and began our boat tour around Kompong Phluk. Our guide was very knowledgeable. We visited a local school and got to talk to young students who were learning English. We opted for the canoe trip around the mangrove forest - would recommend opting for this short trip. Overall I would recommend this tour.

Mezza giornata a Tonle Sap

Good to see the different view of Cambodia

I joined this tour to see something different, not temples. Unfortunately, it was dry season, so the village is not under the water. I was disappointed bit first, but still we could have nice boat trip at Tonle Sap Lake, which is very big like ocean. Also, we walked around Kampong Phluk village, and saw people living in very unique houses. Our guide Choub is very cheerful person, and I could feel comfortable easily. I enjoyed the tour and had fun a lot.
