Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Excellent tour

We have had a great time on this trip today. Many thanks to Marin our guide and our driver also. Marin is a very knowledgeable guy and his English is excellent and he obviously cares about his fellow Cambodians. This tour lets you sample rural life and is an eye opening experience not to be missed. The canoe through the mangrove forest is an optional extra that only costs $5 pp and is so peaceful. I would highly recommend this tour and Marin in particular. Thanks again.

Great trip!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and fantstic trip, especially because we had a wonderful guide, Nak. He gave an excellent explanation of the place, and was very obliging. Worth spending the afternoon to marvel at the sights and sounds around the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Az Singapore

Insightful half day trip

I got to have this experience for myself as I was the only visitor that booked the tour that time. Nevertheless, I have to admit it was very enlightening as the tour guide Nak went above and beyond to introduce me to the current situation of Cambodian citizens. I even got invited to his family’s place! The tour itselfs covers the authentic boat ride to the floating village where it seems like the time had stopped long time ago. We also had a quick stop at the local English school, chatted with the children and walked around the pagoda complex where preparations for an ancestral celebrations were happening. It was a short but enriching experience. Thank you.

Great Experience

I went on the morning tour, lucked out as I was the only person in the group, and I have to say it was extremely enjoyable. We went to the village on stilts and while the water level was low when I went, it didn’t interfere with the general beauty around me. The small canoe ride is an additional $5 USD per person but was worth it to me (not too many other tourists so the only canoe in the area was ours). A shout out for my tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable, kind, and really made this tour memorable. While he provided information about the people and the area, it was simply his character that made the tour amazing.

Great look into Cambodian life

We had a brilliant tour with our guide Nak, he showed us to his local market and then we headed to the floating village. The speedboat takes you through the floating village and you can see what life is like for people living there. You also have a chance to go on a canoe boat for $5 each through the mango trees which was lovely and peaceful. After the canoe ride we saw a few crocodiles near the restaurant and there was a chance to get food and drink before taking the boat out to the lake. I would really recommend this trip, it's interesting and Nak made it as he is so knowledgeable about the area.

Great trip to kampong phluk

We had a very nice trip with our guide Choub. The water hight was perfect to see the stelt houses and to take the little boot trip down the wet forest.

Kompong Phluk half day trip

Very good experience, nice boat trip through stilt houses and the mangrove. Not too touristy and our guide, Choub, was very enthusiastic and spoke English well. Morning trip lasted from 7:30-12:00 plus minus.

Must do tour from Siem Reap!

This was a wonderful cultural tour that exposed us to the way rural Cambodians live in Kompong Phluk. It is a unique lifestyle found in few places around the world and we were thrilled to experience it with our knowledgeable and entertaining guide Nak. Highly recommended!!!
