Tonle Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk Half-Day Tours from Siem Reap (4-5h)

An absolute must-do while in Siem Reap!! My friend and I went on the half-day tour of Kompong Phluk village and Tonle Sap Lake. San was our tour guide and Kaen was our driver — they were both incredibly kind and VERY knowledgeable, and customized/catered the tour to our interests. San taught us not only about the areas that we visited, but also about Cambodia as a whole and its history. San and Kaen picked us up from our hotel and drove us toward Kompong Phluk, where we boarded a small boat and travelled to the village itself. San got out of the boat with us to show us around the village, which is built on stilts, as the area floods during the rainy season. He was very informative and helped us to chat with some of the local people. After spending time here, we continued on to the lake itself, where we were given the options to visit a crocodile farm (on a float on the lake) and take a boat ride into the mangrove trees with a local woman (highly recommend both!). On our way back to our hotel, we stopped at a delicious restaurant (The Hut) and San went out of his way to drive around the city while teaching us about the area and pointing out interesting locations. We learned so much about Cambodia and its people from this experience, and it truly was moving to talk to the locals and see how they live. Don’t miss this!

We had a fantastic trip to the Floating Village of Kampong Phluk with Chet. His knowledge of the area was really good and the tour was very well organised. We first enjoyed a boat ride out the lake where he took us to a restaurant with beautiful views of Tonle Sap and then we headed back to visit the village and saw how the locals lived. Chet was a really lovely guy and made our experience great. Thanks Chet!

KOMPONG PHLUK HALF DAY TOUR I would like to start by pointing out the overview description of the tour. It is as described as far as the pick up and drop-offs to the hotel. We cruised around the stilted houses which are very unique and it offers a distinctive perspective of the local way of life through the changes of season; dry and wet. If you go during the dry-season, which we did, expect a narrow and shallow waterway leading to the Tonle Sap lake. You can observe from the electric posts the height the water can reach during the wet-seasons. The walk through the village presented yet another outlook of the living conditions in the village; from the schools, stilted houses, and temples. One thing we did learn is that tourism has helped improve the living conditions of the inhabitants: So to say that Kompong Phluk is the least visited can be misleading in my opinion. The last thing I would like to add is regarding our overall experience. I am all about writing reviews but I personally dislike being asked to write a ‘favourable review’. I realize that the livelihood of a tour guide is based in part on feedbacks, but asking your guests to give a 5-star rating is slightly inappropriate.

Es war ein faszinierender Ausflug. Sehr zu empfehlen. Unser Tourguide Vichet hat den Ausflug zu etwas ganz besonderem gemacht. Wir haben so viele interessante Sachen erfahren auch nicht nur tourbezogene. Er weiß sehr viel und weiß auch spannend zu erzählen. Die Bootsfahrt zum See war ein Erlebnis welches ich nicht missen möchte. Das Dorf auf Stelzen lässt einen demütig werden. Die Bilder wird man lange Zeit nicht vergessen. Alles in allem eine rundum gelunge Tour. Sehr gut auch als Alleinreisende zu unternehmen. Thanks for making this trip to something special, Vichet.

Vichet was an excellent guide, very informative. He also took great care of us as there are a few tricky moments getting on & off the boats.

I went on a half day trip with two of my other friends and we had a great time on the tour. Our guide was very knowledgable about the village that we visited, was super kind, and was great at reading the group. One of our favorite activities in Siem Reap.

I booked online and found this to be an excellent experience with the family . The guide, Chet, was excellent and very informative. We loved this experience to see how these people lived . We also got off the boat and walked on foot to see a school and the monastery. The children were very welcoming and tried to talk in English with us. Great company decent prices .

Mình tình cờ đặt tour này trước giờ khởi hành 10 tiếng do tour mình định đặt yêu cầu phải đăng ký trước 2 ngày. Bất ngờ là mọi thứ đều tốt hơn mình mong đợi. Tour rất tốt và hướng dẫn viên Phearom siêu thân thiện, chia sẻ nhiều thông tin thú vị nhưng cũng không chèo kéo khách tham gia hoạt động tự chọn (như đi thuyền...) Với giá cả phải chăng và dịch vụ tốt, mình thật sự muốn chia sẻ đến những bạn đang tìm thông tin du lịch Biển Hồ và làng Kampong Phluk!!

This was a great way to see a local village and get some great shots. We first went around the village by boat, and then walked around the high ground through another part of the village (it was during dry season) to get a more intimate view.
