Spiritual and Adventurous

For those interested in exploring this place, here’s a few things I wanted to share: 1. The 1000 lingas are visible only when the waters are shallow. So please check with locals on that. 2.if you are a practising Hindu, you will be amazed to see the beautiful depiction of your dieties-Bramha ,Vishnu, Lakshmi and Shiva on the river bed. 3. The jungle has a very mystique vibe. We loved the trek through the forest and the freshwater spring. 4. You can leave the mountain only after 12pm(one way traffic).so plan your itinerary accordingly.

Floating Village, village market & lake ....

Great tour thank you Phy. We enjoyed the visit to the village and really appreciated an insight to the local market and village life. The visit to the floating village by boat was interesting and exposure to village culture insightful. We dodged the rain and appreciated Phy's knowledge and views on village life. A very enjoyable tour thank you

A market, a village, a lake. Rural life

A very good 4 hour tour. We were back at our hotel by the time the heat set in. Good plan! The visit to the local rural market was really great. Clean, fresh and colourful. A lovely stroll past fruit, vegetables, live fish and meat. A trip down the river in a tourist boat to a wonderful inland sea - the largest freshwater lake in southeastern Asia. The cycle of the wet (monsoon) and the dry months and the effect on the lifestyle. Communities constantly moving with the changing climate. And the dramatic effect of climate change on a simple world. The floating village we stopped at was fascinating. Fish being prepared for smoking, a racing canoe for the annual November water festival, the excitement from children when getting books. Simple things showcasing a very different life to ours. Our guide was excellent. Interesting, knowledgeable and friendly. This was his community. A local street protest an our way home highlighted the reality of local life. Certainly worth doing

Enjoyable insight into stilted living

If you are looking for a floating village tour, then this probably isn't the one to book. The 'floating' part is limited to some restaurants aimed at tourists. HOWEVER, we still really enjoyed it, and having been to a real floating village before, I found the stilted homes more interesting. We had worried that we were overpaying, as tuk tuk drivers can take you to these areas much more cheaply, but our guide, Van Lonh was a very cheerful, friendly and informative person to have with us and it was great to arrive at a boat that had already been organised. There are a few efforts by locals to sell you pictures of yourself, or books but as virtually the only visitors at the time we went, we didn't feel mobbed or pressured. The locals,in the main, just got on with their usual day. As we declined the chance to visit one of the floating restaurants and see their caged crocodiles, the tour was just over 4 hours.
