Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Good but could be better

The village was very special to see, and I am glad we had this experience. All in all, I liked the tour but I have some suggestions for the organisers to improve it. We could not understand much about how people actually lived there, as we were just passing by the houses by boat, and watching from the distance. I would recommend the tour organisers add a bit more of a personal touch, coming closer to some houses or a school, maybe allowing us to see one of the houses. We also enjoyed a boat ride in between the trees and managed to see the monkeys, but the cost was 10 dollars for 15 min which is not cheap. Our guide was nice and funny but he could talk only on the bus and when the boat stopped due to the engine sound.

Unforgettable experience with our amazing guide Sath!

Me an my partner combined this wonderful tour with a visit to the elephant samctuary in the morning. Our caring guide Sath contacted us the day before to re-confirm the pickup time/place and to make sure we pack everything needed for our trip. Sath and his colleague who drove the super comfortable car picked us up on time and immediately offered us some refreshments. During the drive Sath explained us more about the cambodian way of life and especially about the floating village. He is extremely knowledgable and his English is excellent. The village itself is very impressive and the villagers are extremely friendly and respectful. We were able to step into a house and interacted with a lovely school girl who demonstrated her impressive English skills by inquiring about our favorite color, animal and food. She was super cute and joyful. I can highly recommend to book a tour with our guide Sath. He really cared about our well-being, was very attentive and is extremely knowledgable and easy to talk to. Thanks to him and the amazing villagers we have made some memories we will cherish for a very long time

Amazing tour !!

My sister and I really enjoyed our tour with Noy to the floating village. It was a beautiful experience and Noy answered all our our questions about the Khmer culture and customs. We would definitely take a tour with him again!

Fascinating place to visit

It’s a lovely scenic drive to where you embark the boat to take you through the village and out into the lake. There’s an optional canoe trip (well worth it) and you’ll stop and have a walk through the village on the way back. Brilliant insight into how the locals live and the influence that the rainy season and water levels have on their way of life.Channa, our driver was great and Nak Chum, our tour guide was fantastic. Nak was very informative and patient when we asked questions. He couldn’t do enough for us and looked after us very well.

Tonle Sap Lake and Kampong Phuk half day tour

First our guide took us to the market in a village. We always enjoy markets in countries we visit, seeing different vegetables, fruits and other foods that local people eat . At the next stop, we came across 9 to 11 years old students learning English at school. They’re very keen to practice English and it was lovely talking to them. Then we went to the mangrove bush in a deep water. I had ride on a little boat row by a lady . She hummed some lovely song while she rowed. The whole tour was very enjoyable and Sotin made sure of it. He was very knowledgeable of history and the area. Also he bought a prawn fritter for us to try at the market and when I didn’t have small US$ to pay for the lady, he lent to me, very good of him to do that . He said he was quite new at this travel company. He will be an asset to the company. We wish him well . Nobuko
