Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Great experience

Our guide Martin was very informative & tentative to our needs. The tour was good value for money and we got some great pictures of the houses on stilts as well as a market tour & walk through the village. Thank you.

Sailing on a sunny afternoon

It was a pleasant afternoon with a guide who had knowledge. I am naturally a nervous person and cannot swim so for me to go on a lake that looked like an ocean at times was daunting. However, always learning something new is good for mind and soul. To see others way of a very basic and simple life, is food for thought. We were offered to try crocodile and snake roast, needless to say, I was not brave enough to give it a try - seeing them in the farm staring back was good enough ????

Fantastic scenery a must have seen

We visited a local market really impressive, not comparable to the market in the city. Then a boat trip to the floating village, the water level was very low. Visited a school, after that with a boat to a floating harbour/restaurant. The visit to the crocodile farm was not relevant. Good driver and a friendly caring guide! We’ve general comment, a recommendation about Cambodia is that the knowledge of English is rather poor.

Great Way to See Village Life

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He told us about the history of Cambodia on the way to the village and then we boarded a boat to go to the village. After that we went to a floating restaurant that had an assortment of animals and crocodiles. Seeing the life of the villagers was a very humbling experience.

THIS IS A MUST-DO. REAL LIFE WATER WORLD MINUS KEVIN COSTNER

My friends and I were visiting Vietnam and Cambodia. We had many items on our itinerary: Angkor Wat, Halong Bay etc. Tonle Sap was by far the most moving experience of all the sites. You start off with a smaller house boat type boat till you get to the lake. You get to a giant float which is more like a social club and switch to a smaller motor boat. You motor through the floating village. I recommend taking your time. Ask your guide to stop at the house boats to have a beer and a game of billiards. Nothing like enjoying a brew in Water World! You’ll experience many things while traveling but see and experience very few things like this. A lovely community living and thriving on the water. We were privileged enough to visit their school, which is two house boats tied together. You’ll meet the children and see what their day-to-day is like. A donation will be asked for and we gladly gave it. I hope it went to the children. Tonle Sap was recently visited by The Grand Tour show on Amazon and apparently the water levels are very low now. Do your research and see if the entire tour is still available.

What an experience!

My boyfriend and I loved this tour for so many reasons. Our tour guide was just amazing and we had so much admiration for his attitude, background and his love for his Country. He talked us through so much more than what the tour provided on paper and really opened up about his experiences and the life of the Khmer people. His english was also excellent and again, very admirable. The tour offers a wonderful view of the village people and their every day lives. It is very humbling and warming to see. We stopped off at a small market to view the local art before providing us with a very comfortable car ride back to our pick-up point. This is a must do tour and will not disappoint. A special thank you to our tour guide San who made our experience even more memorable.
