Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Nice morning tour

I had a nice half-day tour of the floating village. Our tour guide Han was professional and friendly. My tour had 7 people. We were picked up in a comfortable van. Han made the ride more interesting by giving us some background information as we travelled. Then we took a small boat for about 10 people to the floating village. The water was low enough at one area that we could stop and walk down a dirt residential street. Even though this was the floating village tour, I actually liked that part of the tour alot. The rest was all boating past floating areas. We all chose to take the optional canoe ride through the mangrove forest. That was $5 per person and a good experience. There is also an area where you can feed some crocodiles. The tour was flexible at the end. The guide asked if we preferred to go straight back to our hotels of stop for lunch. We chose to head back to Siem Reap directly and arrived about 12:30. I’d recommend this tour and this guide. It was a unique experience and a fun morning that flew by.

Great day visiting the floating village and lake.

Very good day! Would highly recommend as it is very good value for money. We got a minibus to the floating village and then a boat. Nak is a very nice tour guide who speaks good English and will give you lots of interesting information about the local area and people. He is a very interesting guy. He is studying English literature and is a tour guide to fund his studies. He also used to be a monk so knows everything about monks. Channa the driver is also a nice guy and a very good and safe driver.

Excellent tour

We booked a half day tour to the lake and floating village. We were on a join-in tour and there were four of us in total. Our guide was Choub, who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We would recommend this tour and Choub to anyone who wants to see the real Cambodia. An excellent trip!!

Great Trip - Well worth it

Having read some reviews about the floating villages tours, we were a bit hesitant to book this trip. However, I’m pleased to say we had a great time. Nak, our tour guide, was really engaged, knowledgeable and interesting and, unlike other tours we’d read about, didn’t try to scam or force us into buying anything we didn’t want. The floating village is well worth seeing and the local market was much more interesting than those we experienced in the centre of Siem Reap. A great trip.

Great times

Went on the afternoon trip on 01/10/2019 with Mr Nak. Pickup from 1 to 2pm at my hotel and returned about 5.30pm. Mr Nak was amazing - clearly very passionate about what he does and always willing to help us or answer any of our questions. He provided a lot of interesting information about the floating villages and the people who live there, as well as Cambodian culture in general. He made the trip very pleasurable. This trip took us in an air-con minibus to the docking area, where we transferred to a motor boat to travel in and around the floating villages and on to the lake. We made a stop to go out on a paddle canoe, which was very relaxing and highly recommended. Was a little ambushed by another boat looking to sell us stuff, but as it’s all supporting the local area directly I didn’t mind at all. Definitely a great trip and I would recommend it. No complaints at all!
