Itinerary

The guide will pick up you at 8 am from your hotel and we will start this day with exploring the temples of UNESCO listed Angkor National Park, the World Heritage site and it's the World Largest Religious Monument. Pay the entrance fee on your own account at the ticket office where we will stop for you to buy one and make your way with the guide to the first stop at Angkor Wat to visit the largest and most impressive of all Angkor temples, considered among one of the 7th Wonders of the World.

Angkor Wat was built between 1113-1150 AD and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It's the best preserved of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking, the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world is 200 meters wide. Angkor Wat is an architectural allegory of the mythical Mount Meru in the center of the world (Himalaya). This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls.

We also explore the Angkor Thom complex. Its vast walls, some 6m wide, 8m high and 13km in length contain many monuments. Inside the walls the king, his relatives and officials, military officers and priests took residence, the rest of the people lived outside of the great enclosure, between the two artificial lakes. Our visit will begin with the South Gate, a beautiful introduction to Angkor Thom with well-restored statues of Asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge. Inside the complex, we will first visit the Bayon with 200 endless smiling faces. This temple mountain situated in the center of Angkor Thom City where sets the Bayon apart from many other Angkor monuments and we will continue to the Elephant Terrace, which owes its name to its outstanding depiction of these animals and the Terrace of Leper King, which presents a magnificent sculpture, popularly known as the leper king and then we continue the tour to Ta Phrom was a monastery built by the king Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother as well as a school.

Ta Phrom has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archaeologists to demonstrate the awesome power of nature. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you will climb through the dilapidated stone structures you will see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. At every turn you will expect to see Indiana Jones (Lara Croft) step out from behind a fallen pillar around you.

This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel or any requested drop off point within the city center.

Definitely recommend this tour, with Phat especially!

The Angkor Wat private day tour is very much recommended for those who want to learn all the context and history behind the immense detail all around the Angkor Wat area. Phat was the best guide we could’ve asked for, providing us with interesting stories, answering all questions, and bringing us on many shortcuts which allowed us to avoid crowds and get great photographs! He was very friendly and patient with us as well. Request him if possible when booking!

Two Tours with Nak Chum and his tuk-tuk driver not to be missed.

On Thursday and Friday we experienced two very interesting tours at Angkor Wat, the Small Cicuit Tour with sunset and the Grand Circuit Tour with Bantea Srei. Our guide was Nak Chum. We have been picked up at our Hotel in Siem Riep by tuk-tuk wich was available for all transfers to the various temples and archaelogical sites. Everything was perfectly organised, including rests and lunch, even some stops on the way to pick up some of the famous palmcakes or to see some local stalls where produce was processed. But most of all it was Nak Chum with his deep knowledge of the Angkor Wat World Heritage Site, its historie and the various religious and cultural impacts, who made both tours memorable and enjoyable. We are very thankful for these both day spend with Nak Chum and his friendly tuk-tuk driver. Definitely a recommendation not to be missed.

Small and Grand circuit with Nak

We had the 2 day Tour with Mr. Nak. It was a great experience. He is a very friendly guy, with a lot of knowledge about the temples and cambodia. He had Very interesting stories to tell. And he is happy to answer our questions too. As He was a monk before made it even more interesting to hear about this life too. He is very considerate, stopping in the shadow, to avoid the heat. He took a lot of pictures, every single one a great shot. And pointing at great motifs for a picture. We can highly recommend Nak Chums tours and his great tuk tuk driver.

Angkor 5 temples in 5 hours - Wonderful!

We’d opted for a 5 hour trip to 5 temples and our guide Nak & driver Mr Sim arrived promptly for our 7 am start. Nak’s excellent English and extensive knowledge of the sites’ history made this a really informative enjoyable trip. In addition he was very considerate and conscious of our needs, ie a relaxed pace, lots of shade (where possible!) and avoidance of the really steep high stair cases. One of our highlights at Angkor Wat was actually venturing further away from the crowds and staircase to heaven, to a spot where all we could hear was the beautiful bird song against the backdrop of the temple. No others souls in sight! Not only is Nak an excellent tour guide, he was actually once a monk so his tales of monastic life and faith made the trip even more enlightening and special. The temples speak for themselves, ie as beautiful and wondrous as anticipated. Thanks you Nak, Mr Sim and Angkor!
