Itinerary

The guide will pick up you at 8 am from your hotel and we will start this day with exploring the temples of UNESCO listed Angkor National Park, the World Heritage site and it's the World Largest Religious Monument. Pay the entrance fee on your own account at the ticket office where we will stop for you to buy one and make your way with the guide to the first stop at Angkor Wat to visit the largest and most impressive of all Angkor temples, considered among one of the 7th Wonders of the World.

Angkor Wat was built between 1113-1150 AD and dedicated to Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation. It's the best preserved of all the temples. Its layout and its scale are simply breathtaking, the wall surrounding the enclosure measures 1,000 by 800 meters and the moat, said to represent the oceans of the world is 200 meters wide. Angkor Wat is an architectural allegory of the mythical Mount Meru in the center of the world (Himalaya). This amazing temple homes the longest continuous bas relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls.

We also explore the Angkor Thom complex. Its vast walls, some 6m wide, 8m high and 13km in length contain many monuments. Inside the walls the king, his relatives and officials, military officers and priests took residence, the rest of the people lived outside of the great enclosure, between the two artificial lakes. Our visit will begin with the South Gate, a beautiful introduction to Angkor Thom with well-restored statues of Asuras (demons) and gods lining the bridge. Inside the complex, we will first visit the Bayon with 200 endless smiling faces. This temple mountain situated in the center of Angkor Thom City where sets the Bayon apart from many other Angkor monuments and we will continue to the Elephant Terrace, which owes its name to its outstanding depiction of these animals and the Terrace of Leper King, which presents a magnificent sculpture, popularly known as the leper king and then we continue the tour to Ta Phrom was a monastery built by the king Jayavarman VII as a residence for his mother as well as a school.

Ta Phrom has been controversially left to the destructive power of the jungle by French archaeologists to demonstrate the awesome power of nature. It has been largely consumed by the jungle and as you will climb through the dilapidated stone structures you will see many giant trees growing out of the top of the temple itself. At every turn you will expect to see Indiana Jones (Lara Croft) step out from behind a fallen pillar around you.

This tour concludes with return transfer to your hotel or any requested drop off point within the city center.

Excellent Tour with Excellent Guide - Mr.Sorphea

We had an amazing tour in Siem Reap. The Guide Mr.Sorphea was very knowledgeable and explained properly and clearly about all the temples which we visited. Without that we could never had the visit be so interesting. We actually felt we did time travel in history and came back. He even took us to the right spots for getting good clicks not only in Angkor Wat but in all the places in Siem Reap. All Credit to our Guide Mr.Sorphea for making our trip to Siem Reap very memorable and great. Will definitely recommend!!!

Great day, with great guide!

Me and my girlfriend booked a private tour with guide to see Angkor Wat. We had a wonderful time, the guide was very knowledgeable and good at speaking English. He helped us see all the great locations that we wanted to see, and helped us manage the crowds and got us some really incredible pictures! We could change the route and program as we wanted, and when we wanted to see Angkor from the sky with the balloon ride, they drove us right there and even bargained on behalf of us to get us better prices. We would definitely recommend this for everyone!

Angkor Wat with tour guide Sorphea 5 stars*****

Unfortunally something went wrong when booking the tour at Green Era travel - luckly the hotel got in touch with the manager and they send the guide Sorphea to us :0) We had the best day with a dedicated tour guide who told and showed us many exciting things about all the temples, the history, the nature and the Cambodian culture. He spoke good english and was good the involed the kids too with questions and magic in the nature :0) @Sorphea, thanks for a great day and for all your kindness - hope to meet you again some day

Communication issues

We had booked a private sunset tour with Green Era Travel because we had an awesome tour to Tonle Sap Lake through them already (with a fabulous guide!) We had confirmed by email and text our desire for the sunset tour. But then our pick-up time as morning and when we were discussing the day's plans with our guide, he said this wasn't a sunset tour. If it were to be one, we'd be leaving much later. It was annoying and disappointing that we booked one thing and got another. Our guide was not great, either. His English fluency was very limited, and he was unable to respond to any questions that we had. He was very animated trying to interpret/tell the stories depicted in the carvings of the temples and we could not understand him. We asked for more brevity and he was happy to comply. Our lunch stop was decent - a restaurant in the park recommended by the guide. The temples were crowded - nobody's fault - we visited in high season. Be prepared to navigate crowds. Bring a ton of water with you - I loved that water was provided in the van - but you still have bring it with you to each temple because you are away from the car for long periods. Good walking shoes is a must! I wish we'd brought an umbrella to shield us from the sun. There is decent shade once you are inside, but there are long walks to get from car to temples. Our kids (11, 14, 17) had shorter attention spans, but are glad we went. Be careful with little kids though - it is hot and the tours take a long time. The temples are wonderful and worth the visit. We decided to hire a tour company because we wanted to learn and therefore we were disappointed with this excursion. I think it is a roll of the dice of who you will get as a guide.

Cambodian, Angkor Wat 5* experience with Seitha as a tour guide!

What a day and what an experience! Seitha was my guide! He was better than a guide book with lots of stories to tell and ready to answer all the questions, plus an amazing photographer! If you’re thinking of visiting Angkor Wat and you want to take the most of it without wasting time wandering around with a group of 20 people, don’t hesitate to choose the private or small group option. It’s tailored to your pace and you feel you walk with a knowledgeable Cambodian family member! Seitha’s smile and interesting explanations are simply a cherry on top of visiting this enchanted place. The whole experience with the balloon ride, time for yourself to relax after the temples experience and a final meeting in an amazing restaurant for a delicious Cambodian dinner gives it 5*! You feel like VIP on this trip. Thank you Seitha- you’ll be highly recommended to all my friends that will make their way to Cambodia!

Excellent;a must see for all

This site requires minimum 2 days. The temples are quite intricate and time consuming. The walls are adorned with carvings pertaining to Hindu Mythology and epics of Mahabharata & Ramayana. The details of human and animal forms the dresses and expressions are excellent. One should carry at least 2 litres of drinking water per person; it is OK for males to wear half pants and shoes(need not take shoes out in the temple). Ladies should wear shoulder covered dress, and clothes covering the knees. One should keep the vehicles to facilitate transfer from one temple to another. The services of a guide are quite essential.
