Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Real Cambodia cultural experience

Really enjoyable tour. Sarat was an excellent guide. Informative but allowed opportunity for people to observe and experience. Walk through village was a highlight for me. I wasn’t hassled to buy souvenirs, so I could just wander around and look at another type of life from my own. Overall, a peaceful and enjoyable tour. Highly recommended. ????????

Amazing!!

We had the extreme pleasure of touring with Sarah yesterday. He was very knowledgeable on the area both where we were going and Cambodia in general. Do not be deterred about visiting the floating village when it is not actually floating as we found this an amazing experience. Walking through the village and playing with the kids whilst talking to the locals was, in our eyes, a true representation of their life. We also got to ride the boats and we’re taken out on the lake. Our driver was first class and together with our guide made our afternoon one we will always cherish. We thank them both.

Good guide and good Trip

Five people including myself made this trip to the lake and floating villages outside Siem Reap. We learnt about lake culture and the life of people living in the water in rainy season. We made a trip up a tributary towards the lake which is massive as far as the eye can see. This was followed by a walk through a typical village on stilts. You could see that the community along the lake and its tributaries was preparing for the wet season. We saw crocodiles as well! Phearom is a friendly guide who had a good sense of humour and was also able to talk sensitively about the Cambodian transition from war to peace and the impact of this on the population. Highly recommended well organised trip Thanks Phearom

Pleasant half door excursion of Kompong Phluk and Tonle Sap Lake

We are fortunate to have a very patience English speaking guide Mr. Borain to accompany us for this trip. He is very punctual and waited earlier than us at our hotel lobby for the morning pickup. The pick-up vehicle is a comfortable and clean 10-seater van. Adequate bottled mineral water is provided, and prepared chilled ! What a relief for us during the mid-year hot season ! Once in the van, Mr. Borain gave us an overview on the visit and some expectation and highlights. Though we could get most of the information about the visit online and from other reviewers, there is always some hidden jewel or insider tip on the visit. So be prepared to listen and ask. The local guide is more than happy to share those tip with you, which made us even more enthusiastic on the visit. The journey to Kompong Phluk is about 45 minutes, slightly out of the city and Angkor Wat area. But Mr. Borain was capable to keep the journey enjoyable by feeding us with many historical background and current development about the village. More importantly, we were made aware that part of the cost we paid for the tour is channeled toward the tourism development and education welfare of the needy children of that village. This is a win-win formula for a sustainable tourism model for any part of the world. The best part of our visit is the low tourist season durng mid-year, which relieved us from the long queue and crowd during the boat ride. This has also allowed us to take as many photos during the trip without any rush. Mr. Borain has been very kind to help us as a photographer when we need to take a family or group photo at certain memorable locations or highlights throughout the visit. One important tip for any tourist visit from the end of May to the month of June, please bring along some light rain coat or umbrella due to the raining season. Otherwise it would be very hot, humid and dusty for most part of the year. Wear a comfortable walking shoes with light comfortable clothing would be suffice for most part of your visit in Seam Reap. Finally, our heartfelt thanks to our capable guide Mr. Borain for his proficiency in English and his patience in leading the tour. Well done to him !

Relaxing Tour of Village and Lake

If you have spent a gruelling day in the sun at the temples then this is the perfect way to relax and enjoy a trip into the countryside around Siem Reap and see how local people live. We were collected at our hotel and driven for approx 40 minutes to the river where we boarded a small boat. This transported us along the river, past the floating village and out to the vast Tonle Sap Lake. On the return journey we walked through village and back to our minibus. The whole experience was relaxing and very interesting. Our guide, mr Van Lonh was extremely knowledgable and entertaining. He explained the local history and climatic conditions which lead to the need for floating villages. Altogether a most enjoyable morning. Would highly recommend

Tonle Sap Lake 1/2 day Tour

The tour was very nice and casual, we got to see a different side of Siem Reap, away from the temples. Every local we saw was extremely friendly and there was never any pressure to buy or donate anything outside of our tour package. Seeing the community of house on stilts was very interesting and we got to take a lot of cool pictures. Mr. Van Lonh was our tour guide and he was extremely knowledgeable with fluent English skills. He answered all our questions about the area, the people, and the Cambodian countryside. He was a great facilitator to the village, and was patient and respectful with us and the locals we encountered. My only complaint was that the tour was not longer. Great experience!
