Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Excellent even in the dry season

We went during the dry season and had a wonderful time. While we did not see the village with all of the water we did get a very different experience that was very enjoyable. Our guide Mr. Choub took us to walk through the streets of the village and see the daily lives of the people. We stopped at an English class in the village to help the students practice with native speakers. I would absolutely recommend doing this no matter what time of year you are in Siem Reap.

Beautiful trip to interior of Siem Reap village & boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake floating village

Decided to visit Floating Village on recommendation of our fantastic guide Nak. It was a lovely experience of Cambodian life off the beaten path. Must visit !! Mangrove forests & life around the lake is something worth seeing.

6 stars!

We visited Kmpong Phluk in the dry season so our tour was on foot. Very interesting to see how all the homes were built on stilts. We did have a boat tour out to see Tonle sap Lake and a short canoe ride with a local. It would be worth coming back to see the village during the wet season; it would be completely different. Be sure to take a car or mini van tour, not a tuk tuk. The ride by van was 35 minutes and at some points we saw people having to get out of their tuk tuk and walk up small hill's bcz the tuk tuk couldn't handle the extra weight. Our tour guide Chausan was excellent- try to request him. Overall, thoroughly enjoyed our tour.

Appalling exploitation of Tourists!

Expected a Boat Tour of the Fishing Village ... but we were exposed by our Tour Guide (Mr Nak), to many variations of swindling money from us, in disguised ways. Enroute we were offered a Canoe Ride for 35 mins through the mangrove forest, $5 extra each, as well as being primed about a school we would see that needs support, and tourists to speak English to the students. Then when arriving to get on the boat, we were accosted by locals pressing us to purchase souvenirs, AND then photos were taken of each of us on the tour. Part way we were ushered off the boat to view a monastery for about 2 mins, then walked for 20mins through the village, being told about a School we could “assist”. Once arriving at floating platform for Canoe Ride, which lasted barely 20 mins, after which the Canoes were diverted to take the tour group to a Floating Restaurant on Tonle Sap Lake. Our guide wanted us all to rest, relax and have lunch at the floating restaurant. None of this matched with the description of the tour. On returning to shore from the boat, we were then accosted by the locals, who had printed each of our photos on to a board, laminated and pushed at us to purchase. ALL IN ALL, everyone on the tour considered it a BIG SCAM, endeavouring to make money out of us tourists! It didn’t work. DON’T BOOK YOUR TOUR WITH Green Era Travel. Grossly appalling!
