Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Great tour, fantastic tour guide

Highly recommended eye-opener tour while you are in Cambodia. We had booked the tour just the night before and we were very lucky to have Sam as our tour guide. This guy is fantastic! Very knowledgeable, passionated, genuine, sociable, willing to answer all of our questions. He went over the hills to make this tour an unforgettable experience for all of us! Plus, he is a great photographer as well! A special thanks also to Ouen, our driver. He is a capable driver, who drove us to and back to the hotel in safety. Many thanks for making this day such a memorable experience!

If I could give him 6 stars I would

My wife and I, along with our two teens (age 16 and 17) booked a half day tour to see the Kompong Phluk Floating Village. All of us were impressed with our tour guide Chau and his driver/partner. We were given a history lesson on the way to the village (approx 35 min drive in an A/C van) and he answered all of our general questions about the Cambodian people. We visited the village during the dry season so the tour was on foot. So informative! So interesting! We came away with a greater appreciation for all that we have in our lives. The highlight of the village was a visit to the English school. Later' we took a boat ride to the Tonle Sap lake and enjoyed a beer on the dock while my wife and daughter had a small boat ride through the mangrove. This tour is worth every penny. Chau is professional , knowledgeable and so friendly we became friends on Facebook after the tour.

Afternoon at Kompong Phluk w/Jose

Really had a great trip with Jose to Kompong Phluk on the afternoon tour. There were 3 of us on the tour, and Jose was great about contacting us with his expected pickup time. Lots of good information about Tonlé Sap and the residence of this unique village. Naturally- there are lots of tourist visiting this site, so don’t be surprised by that. Fortunately with our small group we were able to get out in front of the larger groups early enough where the majority of our trip was uninterrupted. Great photography opportunities, comfortable van, unique experience. A nice break from the Angkor temples. Jose has good English skills and worked hard to make sure the trip was enjoyed by the group. Would recommend, would absolutely recommend Jose.

Awesome Trip! Short yet informative

Our tour guide is Nak. He is so passionate in giving us the necessary information on the tour. Especially explaining before the boat trip as the engine will be loud. The short trip to the market along the way is a good experience too, different frrom others. Recommended even for the morning tour.

Good half day tour

We went with Bayon Tabi Tours for the half day tour and was well guided by Mr.Jose who gave us a lot of information and took good care of everything. Its an eye opener seeing people living literally on water n the largest lake in Asia. Worth the trip.

Jose is an excellent tour guide!

Jose is a very knowledgeable, hard working young man who speaks great English and has a passion for what he does which is ensuring his clients have a great tour experience! I highly recommend asking for Jose. And by the way, Jose is not pronounced Ho-say like the Spanish pronunciation. It is Jose like J-Oh-s.

My tour guide made this experience great for me!

I had recently had a tour to the temples the day before and didn't enjoy my tour guide, so I wasn't sure what to think with this tour. Fortunately, this time I lucked out! Our tour guide was incredible. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about this tour and it made all the difference. He kept us informed the whole time while making sure we were on track. I really appreciated him making us all feel special and checking to make sure we were all enjoying ourselves. I'm so sad that I forgot his name, but if TripAdvisor is able to identify him(pictured), to to schedule with him! The tour could be hard for some because you are seeing a different way of life with communities living in poverty, but his tour guide makes you feel happy and hopeful for them. He explains all the improvements this village has had while never under-minding the struggles they've gone through. This tour is a unique experience that everyone should do so their horizons can be broadened.
