Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Morning tour through local fishing village and boat cruise on tonle sap lake!

This tour was exceptional! Nak, our guide, and Billy, our driver, took us through some local markets and to the local fishing/stilt village to truly see how daily life is. We then took a boat tour on the lake to see the local fishing scene. Nak was passionate and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions throughout the tour! I highly recommend Nak, and this tour during your stay in Siem Reap!

Wonderful and informative tour with Nak!

This is a fabulous tour - a perfect way to spend our morning in Siem Reap! We booked rather last minute, but we received an immediate reply and the warmest welcome from Nak, our guide, and our driver, Billy. Our first stop was a local market where we saw firsthand how the locals prepare fish, meat, and a variety of produce to sell to the community. We sampled some delicious fruits! Afterwards, Nak took us through the fishing village which used to be a floating village. We learned a lot about the local life here and the impacts that global warming has had on the community. We ended the tour with a boat ride on Tonle Sap- the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia. I highly recommend booking this tour with Nak! Informative, friendly, and a nice contrast from the city life.

Wonderful authentic Cambodian experience with amazing local guide

Sam is an amazing guide and gave us a fabulous experience. He is extremely knowledgeable about Cambodian history and is a local (grew up in the village we visited) which was fun as we walked around the market and stopped to say hi to his relatives and friends. We drove from Siem Reap in a nicely air conditioned car and stopped at a large village market in full swing. We tried a few local delicacies before going to the floating village. Here we walked the streets and stopped at a school where we met some kids and donated some books and pencils. Next we went on a boat tour to the lake and marveled at the scale of it (even in the dry season). If you want a genuine and authentic Cambodian experience then this is the tour for you.

Tonlesap lake

Floating village Tonle Sap Lake located in the center of Cambodia. This lake, which accounts for 15% of Cambodia's area, is the home of traditional floating villages where local people live. It is an important place like a lifeline for Cambodians. Almost all of the people living on Tonlesa Lake are fishermen, and there are also floating villages, floating villages, floating restaurants, and floating suburbs on Tonlesa Lake^^
