Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Fabulous morning in the Tonle Sap Lake area

This tour provided us a very different view of Cambodia, outside of more 'classic' touristic circuits, and was eye opening on many points. Mr Nak was our tour guide and was incredibly enthusiastic, helpful, knowledgeable and therefore very interesting to listen to. We started our day by visiting a rural market, where he took the time to make us taste typical fruits, insects and other Cambodian snacks. We then went to Kampong Phluk village; though the water was at the lowest at this season, it remained a very interesting and fascinating stop to visit by boat. We stopped on the Tonle Sap Lake, where Mr Nak gave us very detailed explanations about its importance to people, its geographic particularities and its amazing biodiversity. Afterwards, we finished our half tour by going through the Kampong Phluk village once more but this time by feet; Mr Nak let us the time to take all pictures we wanted and made sure to pause to answer all of our questions. The car came to pick us up from our guest house in Siem Reap and brought us back at the end of the day. Our driver, Mr Mom, was very kind as well. The vehicle was equipped with air conditioning and we were able to get fresh bottles of water once it got too hot. Truly both an amazing tour and guide that we vividly recommend !

A unique experience

My memories from this water village tour exceeded my expectations, a completely different world to me, Phat was our tour guide and because of him this tour was both informative and enjoyable. At all times he gave insightful information on the history and lifestyle of the water village people. With his own personal family history of growing up in these regions, Phat was not only knowledgeable, but also friendly, caring and sensitive. This tour is highly recommended and particularly with Phat as a guide.

Fabulous half day trip with wonderful guide!

Wonderful half day tour with our amazing guide, Sophy and driver Sok Ken. Sophy was very knowledgeable and made the trip a fabulous experience! Tour covered so much! Private air con vehicle and unexpected stop at street market with plenty of time to wander and feel the vibe of local life. Comfy drive out to meet the river boat to experience the floating village with its towering stilted houses. Visited school and met with the gorgeous children. Then sailed out onto the vast Tonle Sap lake. Stopped at a floating cafe for refreshments. Awe inspiring trip and would thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic Tonle Sap Tour - off the beaten track

We had a wonderful time on the tonle sap tour with Sath as our guide. He was very knowledgeable and funny, and he explained the history and culture of the lake and the floating villages. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a riverside restaurant. The tour was well-organized, comfortable, and informative. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and diversity of tonle sap and Cambodian lifestyle off the beaten track. Thank you, Sath, for making this tour unforgettable!

Never seen a village like it, definitely recommend! ????

We went with Sath and Sokhen with whom we felt very comfortable. Sath was a wonderful guide, so knowledgeable and competent. The conversations with him were one of my favorite things about this trip, and it‘s why I like these small group tours: You learn so much about the culture through guides like Sath. Floating village and local market were very interesting and the former also really impressive. I appreciated the walk through the village and we even went into one of the houses (an English school). Thank you to both! :) After that, you can book a separate mangrove tour by boat, just like 10‘-15‘. It‘s definitely overpriced (11$) and the lady really pressured us to buy things along the way which we really didn‘t appreciate! I still am glad we did it because I‘ve never done a mangrove tour before, but I wouldn‘t do it again.

An excellent day with Sath & Sokhen

Sath and Sokhen picked us up as planed at our hotel. It was a great journey. I really think it worth paying a little bit more than the standard tours for 20$, and have a private tour with Sath. We visited a market in the morning. Sath took the time to explain us the specialties and the products in general that they sell at the market. I loved the atmosphere! We then went through the floating village with our private boat and visited the village by foot. We had the village just for us because you don't do that with big tours. Sath always took the time to give us detailed information during the day! He's a great guide always smiling and ready to help. Sokhen was a good driver. He drove us carefully to the main spots. Thank you both for this superbe experience! If I had to do it again I would definitely book by them. I red a lot of bad reviews from people being scammed because they booked a group tour for much less with other companies. I wasn't sure at the beginning, but they really made the difference! I think it's the best way to discover this place.
