Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

An interesting look at another way of life

My wife and I went on this tour yesterday with Nak as our guide. Nak was full of useful information, and gave us great insight into daily life for real people in Siem Reap province. We went during rainy season, which is a very different experience than going in wet season. In rainy season, the entire structure of the village is visible, so life happens far above the street level, atop wooden stilts. I would definitely be interested in coming back during wet season for a very different experience.

It was a very interesting experience for me. If you can see and enjoy the real life of Cambodian, you should join this tour. My guide man was so SWEET and very gentleman. He gave me some Cambodian food haha. He speaks English well so I can easily understand what he said. Please enjoy your tour!!! ????????????????????

Nice morning

Our guide Nak was awesome! Definitely worth to visit these villages! Don't bring fancy clothes as it can get really muddy!

Great Tour at Drydocked Floating Village

Floating Village drydocked, but still a great experience. We went just before the rainy season starts and the water levels start to rise (about mid July according to our guide) so the water was quite low. Very interesting stop at the local market in the town before the floating Village. I especially enjoyed seeing all the types of fish (if you've watched river monsters you would probably enjoy it as well), and from my limited knowledge, I believe it was an authentic local market. Our guide Mr. Nak was very good and did a great job of explaining all of the local ingredients and foods and translating any questions we had for the vendors. Option to try some local foods. We then went on to the floating Village, which was dry for our trip, but still great to see all of the houses on stilts and learn about life there. We also visited one of the local English classes at the school where there were more than a few children eager to practice with you. The young girl I spoke to was absolutely adorable and very keen to speak with us. Great experience, but before we got to the school there were a few people trying to sell us books and pencils to give to the kids at the school at what I felt were very inflated prices. It's not that the kids don't need these supplies, but we decided to give a donation to the school directly when we visited. After exploring the town a bit more we went down to the river and hoped on the boat to take a quick trip up the river and onto Tonle Sap lake. We enjoyed the boat ride and stopped at a floating restaurant to have a drink and relax looking out at the lake. Nice place for a beer. Drink prices not bad. Before the boat trip and when we were about to get back on the boat we were encouraged to tip the boat driver. It is still up to you, but we were told even $1 would help. It didn't have to be much. The drive back is when we stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant. Overall, I would recommend the tour during the dry season or the rainy season. In fact we would do the same tour again if we we're back during the rainy season just to see the changes to the village and for the slightly different experience.

Great half day

Nak was a great tour guide! Good english and lots of info. Got to see a lot of authentic Cambodia, the good and the bad. I appreciated the opportunity to get out of Siem Reap and especially get to the floating restaurant. Very informative and relaxing trip!

Informative, fun, eye-opening experience with Nak

This half-day tour was excellent for my partner and me – it would not have been this enjoyable if not for our extremely enthusiastic guide Nak. We booked last minute and was picked up from our hotel on time. Nak was very informative, funny and could converse well in English. The restaurant he took us to was fabulous to say the least - best fish amok we’ve had on our trip! Thank you Nak for making this the highlight of our time in Cambodia.

Kompong Phluk and Tonela Sap Lake

Incredible departure from Angkor Wak and ancient temples to see current Cambodian living at a small village market and a floating fishing town. Our guide Nak, a true “local” was very informative and helpful. As we visited in “dry” season, we look forward to returning in “wet” season as well! Nak will be our Go-To guide for sure!!
