Tonle Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk Half-Day Tours from Siem Reap (4-5h)

Highly recommended half day tour w Borain, a local tour guide who speaks great english, knows the area well, and can show you the ins and outs. Picked up at 8am and drove 45 mins to the huge lake (4th largest in Asia I learned), then hopped on a boat and the driver even let me drive it a bit (don’t forget to tip). Along the way saw local life in small villages that lived and relied on the water, which changes in height depending on the season. Took the optional $10 usd tour into the mangrove forest by a tiny boat to see life in the water forest which was cool. Plus a mini market w 4 boats selling coconuts, snacks and books to buy for the children in the village. Then stopped by the village and saw how poor it was, but everyone seemed happy, and electricity was introduced in 2015. Afterward Borain took me to the Siem Reap artisan market which helped rural locals learn art, really cool. Overall a great experience w a great tour guide. 5 stars. Only 2 downsides are: 1) I thought I would see the houses built on stilts on the water, but those are on a further part away and 2) Green Era did not send a reminder confirmation of pickup details the day before which, as a seasoned traveler and tour doer, is a big misstep.

Barang is very professional and he explained to us the life of the village with great precision and passion

Great half day tour, my tour guide name was Barang, he was vey knowledgeable and had great english, the floating village tour was a great experience and Barang explained the history and how they survive on a day to day basis, we even got to interact with locals.

A nice and relaxing boat trip on Tonlé sap and through the floatting village. I guess that our guide was the only one who brought us to walk inside the village, whereas other tour operators made the tourists stay in the boat. So this is a great advantage! Thanks for that.

This tour was an amazing experience with a great guide. Sarat was great! He shared a lot about the local village and allowed us ample time to mingle with the school children. I really enjoyed the interaction and speaking with them in the classroom. Although it was early in the rainy season and some options were not offered on the tour, it was still a great tour.

Een geweldige tour met een uitstekende gids, die veel vertelde van de omgeving en het leven in de paaldorpen. De mensen waren zeer vriendelijk en helemaal niet opdringerig. Super dat we na een tijdje werden afgezet zodat we dan een eindje te voet de paalwoningen konden konden bezichtigen. Alleen spijtig dat we onderweg niet even halt hielden aan de lokale markt om daar ook de sfeer op te snuiven. Een echte aanrader om Siem Reap af te ronden. Hartelijk bedankt Surat en de bestuurder. Het was geweldig!

Highly recommend this tour. Mr Surat and driver were great hosts. The boat ride up the canal, the walk through the village to see how the people live and talk to the kids and locals was great and we all took a lot out of this trip. Thankyou for a wonderful day!

Just for finished our tour with Mr. Sarat. He was an excellent guide providing important information in the area. The tour is a great chance to experience a unique part of the area and see how people live. The people were delightful, and it’s a great cultural experience. You can visit some schools, religious sites, and boat around the area. A great way to round out your visit to Siem Reap.
