Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Highly informative

Despite some early confusion with my name this turned out to be a great tour. Toneth was an outstanding guide, highly knowledgeable and a great communicator. His insights capped off a fascinating excursion to a truly remarkable community. The crocodiles were a surprise too.

This trip was great.. we spent time with the locals who lived in a jungle area and learned how they adjusted to the harsh conditions during the rainy season. Interacting with these people and touring in some remote areas, was a highlight of my trip. Our torn guide was awesome and so was our driver.

Interesting and impressive half day tour to Kompong Phluk

We where very happy that we did this tour and to see these amazing stilt houses. The rowing trip in the flooded wood was also great and we where happy to have our excellent guide Reaksa that learned us about Ton Le Sap and the life around it. We highly recommend this tour.

Impressive half-day trip to Tonle Sap Lake

After spending full day visiting the temples, we took the afternoon tour to Tonle Sap lake on the day after, hoping to see the sunset. This tour first took us to Kompong Phluk where we saw the life of villagers. There was small boat ride to mangrove forest, which is optional but highly recommended. We had a quick dinner at floating restaurant before watching the beautiful sunset. Thanks to our guide, Noy, who help making this trip a memorable one.

A ride along the canals to the largest lake in SE Asia with a canoe ride through a mangrove forest and a short visit to a village thrown in. Overall highly enjoyable. Can provide a refreshing break after days of tiring temple hopping.

Fantastic Tour to the Tonle Sap Lake!

We had one day left after temple visiting and so we decided to see something more from this beautiful country than only angkor. The tour to Kompong Phluk was just excellent, exciting and very interesting! I can really recommend it and it’s very worth to see some more than only the temples. I guess now i can imagine a bit more about the life in cambodia and i’m interested to come back to this country to explore more, especially the countryside! Our guide Sarat told us many things about the life of the locals there and some other facts about cambodia. He and the driver Thnou make a great job! Thanks for this great afternoon!

I give it 4 stars because the large boat ride through the village and the small boat ride through the forest was actually really neat. I can't give it 5 stars because the guide himself didn't give us too much background or history but he did warn us that the women operating the small boats would be hitting us up for purchasing their goods they ask you buy drinks/snacks for yourself, etc.. Long, quiet van ride to/from the lake. The other annoying thing is we were first to be picked up and last to be dropped off. So our tour was more like 6hrs instead of 4hrs.

Great day out of the city

What an excellent way to get out of the city for a day an see a little more of the country. If your wanting a day out to see a bit more of Cambodia and enjoy a mix of different atmospheres and sights then this tour is highly reccomended. Our guide Phearom was exceptional and very knowledgable, he shared many interesting stories and facts about the country and the reigon, and I would have him as my guide again in a heartbeat.
