Itinerary

Begin your adventure with pickup from your Siem Reap hotel for the roughly 45-minute journey to Kompong Phluk. Depending on the season, you’ll travel by minibus (February to July) or by minibus and boat (August to January). Transfer to a small boat and set sail along the lake, passing stilted houses and schools, floating markets, pagodas, and fishing boats as your guide tells you more about local life, customs, and traditions.

Wet-season visitors can also opt to enjoy a traditional canoe ride around the flooded forests (for an additional expense) and experience the region’s unique ecosystem as you glide between the semi-submerged trees.

Back in Siem Reap, your tour ends with a drop-off at your hotel.

Insight into Cambodian village life

Nak from Green Era travel was an exceptional guide who spoke very good English. He was very knowledgeable, always smiling and engaging. He spent many years as a monk and grew up in the areas we visited so his insight and openness in sharing his life experiences was very enlightening. The highlight for us was near the end of the tour when we where given a chance to speak with the village school children whilst in their open classroom. They seemed to lavish practicing their English, asking and answering many questions with great enthusiasm. They were also happy for us to take photos in their natural surrounds. A photographers dream! If you want to see the real Cambodia- outside of the mainstream tourist areas- I highly recommend this tour.

Well worth a visit

This tour was a great way to see another facet to Cambodian living. I'd seen reviews recommending not to go in the dry season however the floating village is an amazing place even when the water levels are low. You still get to take a boat down the river and it's pretty remarkable to see the structure of these houses. Our tour guide Nak was very friendly and enthusiastic, he also took us to the local market which again was really interesting. The only improvement I'd recommend for Green Era is to give more specific times around hotel pick up - they originally told us we had an hour window in which they could come and get us which was a bit too long to wait around in the hotel foyer.

Nak was great!

I did the half day floating village and the tonle sap lake boat tour. Nak was awesome. We also did a side excursion to a local school near the floating village and stopped for refreshments at a floating restaurant on the lake. Nak used to be a monk and was very knowledgeable and friendly. We also did another side excursion to a local market which was fascinating. All in all a fantastic experience. Thank you!

Kampong Phluk and Tonle Sap Lake Tour during Dry Season is Amazing!

We were guided by Mr. San, for half-day tour to Kampong Phluk Village & Tonle Sap Lake today in Siem Reap. We took an awesome boat and everyone was waving and smiling. The water level was low so we were able to take a walk through the village and see how people made a living and also learn about day-to-day life. We then took the boat out into the open lake which was probably the best part and saw a floating forest. All around a great experience and would do it again with a doubt!

A great experience visiting Kampong Phluk and Tonle Sap Lake. Our tour guide, Nak, was most knowledgable and helpful.

Unforgettable Experience

You haven't seen Cambodia, if you haven't been on this tour. This was an incredible experience with a passionate guide that you cannot miss. Nak, our guide, loves his country and loves sharing it with others. His unique life experiences are shared with you as you travel with him. Bring your camera so that you won't miss a special moment (and there are many of them). This tour will be an incredible memory for you forever.

Great guides, but be aware not to be mixed with other companies

Visited Tonle Sap (M. Nak) and Angkor (M. Nhem). Both visits were very interesting with guides open to share knowledge and culture for a unique experience. For the Angkor visit, I was initially mixed with other people that booked with other companies with tickets half price of mine (was looking for a better more personal service with Green Era). Had to call the manager to request a proper service from his company, I hope this is not going to happen again to others !
